GTA 6 Fan Tracks Down Jason and Lucia’s Real-Life Apartment in Miami

GTA 6 fans have a habit of digging up the real places hiding inside Rockstar’s fiction. The latest find comes with a twist: the building itself isn’t there to see anymore. Instagram user Aaron (@prettyboycuh) traced the skyline visible from Jason and Lucia’s apartment in “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look,” Rockstar’s presentation released August 27. That led him to a condo building called Belmar, which once stood at 419 NE 19th Street in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood. Belmar was later demolished to clear the way for a planned residential tower. So if Aaron’s right, Rockstar ended up digitally preserving a piece of Miami that’s already gone.

It all traces back to Rockstar’s Extended Look, the roughly 26-minute presentation built entirely from PS5 gameplay. It gave fans their best look yet at Jason and Lucia’s apartment — two trailers hadn’t shown nearly this much of it.

Aaron’s method was pretty simple, at least to start: line up the skyline visible from the apartment with real Miami. That narrowed things down to a specific block. But when he checked current satellite and street-level imagery, the building that should have been there just wasn’t.

So he went digging through Google’s older imagery instead. Sure enough, an earlier shot of the same spot showed a low-rise apartment building. Its position, orientation and general shape line up with what’s on screen in the game.

Old property listings make the GTA 6 connection even stronger

From there, the comparison got more specific. Archived real-estate listings gave him another data point to work from. Dexerto’s coverage of the discovery says the resemblance holds up on the inside too, not just from the street.

Add it up: the building’s orientation, where the balconies sit, a central courtyard, how the parking is arranged, even the fence around the property. Per Dexerto, historical imagery puts the old building in the same spot and pointed the same direction as the one in GTA 6. The old Zillow listings just add one more layer to the comparison.

Worth saying plainly: none of this is Rockstar confirming anything. The studio hasn’t named a reference building, and GTA games generally don’t work from exact copies of real places — they mix and alter. What the evidence actually supports is narrower than “confirmed” — but it’s still notable. It strongly suggests Rockstar borrowed from the real Belmar Condominium when building Jason and Lucia’s place.

The real building was bought for $12 million and demolished

The building itself was the Belmar Condominium — five stories, 13 units, built back in 1973 near Margaret Pace Park and Biscayne Bay in Edgewater.

Here’s how it disappeared. In August 2022, an entity tied to SB Development principal Joseph Stern bought out all 13 units for $12 million — about $923,076 a condo. The Real Deal, which broke the story at the time, reported SB and its partner, New York-based Hazelton Capital Group, had redevelopment in mind from the start.

It didn’t come down right away, though. Florida YIMBY reported in October 2023 that the old building was still standing, with a demolition permit pending. The developers were pushing a 55-story tower for the site. Belmar was demolished at some point after that, as part of those plans.

That tower — a $300 million project called Vela — has had a rough time getting approved. Revised designs, a 6–0 board vote recommending denial, pushback over trying to fit something this big on a lot barely a third of an acre. Dexerto’s story on the discovery calls the project “on hold,” which undersells what’s actually happened more recently. As of January 2026, Miami’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board was still dealing with waivers tied to the site, and those records describe a revised, 285-unit version of the tower. SB Development’s own website, for what it’s worth, still lists a different unit count and files Vela under “in development” rather than finished. In other words, as of January 2026 this was a project still working its way through city hall — not one that got shelved.

GTA 6 may have preserved a vanished piece of Miami

If Aaron’s right, there’s something almost poetic about it. A building that no longer exists in Miami still exists, in some altered form, inside Rockstar’s version of it. Grand Theft Auto VI is out November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It won’t be long before players can walk around that apartment themselves — assuming the steady stream of pre-release leaks doesn’t get there first.
