GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 Leave PS Plus on November 17

Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are leaving the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, along with nine other games. IGN reported that the removals start on Nov. 17, 2026, two days before Rockstar releases GTA 6 on Nov. 19.

The change affects only PS Plus Extra and Premium members who play these games through the subscription. Anyone who bought a copy keeps it. If you have only been playing through PS Plus, the games will stop working after they leave the catalog, even if they are still downloaded, unless you buy them, IGN reported.

The 11 games leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium

This is IGN’s list, with the PlayStation versions that are leaving:

The list can differ by country. Its list also included Thank Goodness You’re Here, in select regions, which is not on IGN’s list. GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 appear on both.

What it costs to keep playing

Both games happen to be on sale on the U.S. PlayStation Store. These are the prices the store showed on Oct. 20, 2026:

  • Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4): $14.99, down 75% from $59.99.
  • Grand Theft Auto 5: Story Mode: $24.99, down 50% from $49.99.
  • Grand Theft Auto 5 (PS4 and PS5): $39.99.

The store said both discounts end on Oct. 22, 2026, at about 3 a.m. Eastern time, well before the games leave PS Plus.

On PC, Steam was running its own sale on Oct. 20, 2026: Red Dead Redemption 2 was $14.99, down from $59.99, and Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced was $19.79, down from $44.99.

Both games still have big audiences

Both games still draw big crowds. At 11:21 p.m. UTC on Oct. 20, 2026, Steam’s public player-count service showed 29,916 people playing GTA 5 Legacy, 24,788 playing GTA 5 Enhanced and 23,685 playing Red Dead Redemption 2. Those numbers cover PC only. Sony does not publish live player counts for PlayStation.

On the PlayStation Store, Red Dead Redemption 2 had an average rating of 4.76 out of 5 from about 489,000 ratings, and GTA 5 had 4.46 from about 1 million.

Neither game is leaving PS Plus for the first time. GameSpot noted that both have rotated out of and back into the catalog before, and that GTA 5 returned in November 2025.

What happens next

Subscribers have until the removals begin on Nov. 17, 2026, to finish what they started for free. PlayStation’s October 2026 additions to the catalog include Horizon Forbidden West and Mafia: The Old Country, IGN reported. GTA 6 follows on Nov. 19, 2026.
