Rockstar has shown Grand Theft Auto VI in pieces for almost three years. Six official videos, 33 minutes and 33 seconds of footage, and until this month not one of them carried a firm release date. The Launch Trailer, posted on October 15, 2026, finally gave one: November 19.
Lined up in order, the GTA 6 trailers tell a second story alongside the game’s. You can watch Rockstar’s marketing shift from a mood piece to a product with a date, and you can see in the view counts that the biggest audience showed up on day one and never came back in the same numbers.
Here is every one, with the runtime and the view count we recorded from Rockstar’s YouTube channel on October 17, 2026.

The ninety seconds that are still the biggest
Trailer 1 landed on December 4, 2023, and it is still the most-watched thing Rockstar has put out for this game by a long way. It introduced Lucia, the state of Leonida and a Vice City that looked sun-bleached rather than neon. Rockstar scored it to Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road” and credits the track in the video’s own description.
What it did not do was name a release date. That gap would stay open for nearly three more years.
A long wait, and then Jason
Rockstar let 519 days pass before the next video, the longest silence in the whole run. Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025 and gave Jason real screen time for the first time, turning a game about Lucia into a game about two people. At 2:47 it is also the longest of the GTA 6 trailers.
It drew 184.8 million views, a very large number that still falls more than 110 million short of the first trailer.
When the marketing changed shape
After Trailer 2 the videos stopped trying to sell a feeling and started selling a product. The next two are short, functional and far less watched.
The cover art reveal on June 18, 2026 runs 33 seconds and animates the box art. There is no gameplay in it, and at 15.7 million views it is one of the two smallest videos on the list. It matters anyway, because a game with a cover is a game with a shelf date somewhere behind it.
Seven weeks later came the shortest video of the six: 25 seconds, posted August 6, 2026, announcing that something called An Extended Look was coming on August 27. It is the only video here whose job is to advertise another video.
Twenty-seven minutes of the actual game
That build-up paid off on August 27, 2026. An Extended Look runs 26 minutes and 48 seconds, which is 80 percent of all the official footage Rockstar has released, and it premiered on Netflix before reaching YouTube.
It is also the only video that shows the game being played rather than cut for effect. The wanted system, the switch between Jason and Lucia and the karma mechanic all appear here, and we went through what it revealed in our breakdown of the Extended Look.
The trailer that came with a date
Seven weeks after that, on October 15, 2026, Rockstar closed the gap Trailer 1 had left open. The Launch Trailer runs 90 seconds, the same length as the first one, and Rockstar says it was captured in-game on a PlayStation 5.
It is the first trailer with music written for the game: “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The release date is not in the video at all. Rockstar put it in the description, in plain text: “Grand Theft Auto VI arrives November 19.” We went through the trailer line by line in our Launch Trailer breakdown.
Who is still watching
Put the six side by side and the attention is strikingly front-loaded. Trailer 1 has 298.4 million views on its own. Trailer 2 and all four 2026 videos together come to 275.4 million. A clip from December 2023 is still the biggest thing Rockstar has published for this game.
The Launch Trailer is the one sign that the curve is turning back up. It passed the Extended Look’s entire running total in two days. The Extended Look has been live since August 27 and sits at 31.8 million after 51 days; the Launch Trailer reached 33.0 million within 48 hours of going up.
Length explains some of that, since 90 seconds asks far less of a viewer than 27 minutes. The rest is what a confirmed date does to an audience.
Rockstar’s own pace tells the same story. There were 519 days between the first two trailers and 408 between Trailer 2 and the cover art. Everything since has come in weeks: 49 days, then 21, then 49. The next gap is 35 days, and at the end of it the game is out.
