GTA 6 Launch Trailer: Jason’s Army Past, a Call From Lucia and a New Justice Song

Rockstar Games released the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on October 15, 2026. That is 35 days before the game comes out on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19. The 90-second video went up on YouTube at 9 a.m. ET, and it debuts “Flower in a Hurricane,” a new song from the French duo Justice.

Rockstar says the whole trailer was captured in-game on a PS5. We went through it frame by frame, read the English captions Rockstar uploaded with it and checked the PlayStation Store. The details below come from those three sources unless we name another outlet.

Seven lines of dialogue, and what they set up

For all its action, the trailer has only seven spoken lines, according to Rockstar’s captions. Jason Duval speaks first, over a sign that reads Brian’s Marina: “I got in some trouble in the Army.” He adds that he didn’t leave on good terms, and that nobody gives loans to people like him.

That money problem carries into the next scene. As Jason works beside a boat in the marina’s shed, an automated phone voice announces a free call from Lucia Caminos. Lucia first appeared in a prison jumpsuit in Trailer 1. Kotaku reports that a later shower scene shows her wearing a house-arrest ankle monitor.

The last exchange comes just after the one-minute mark. On a high-rise balcony at sunset, Lucia asks if they are going to be okay. The answer plays over the next shots: they have stuck together through everything, and they just have to get through this.

Those lines match Rockstar’s own story summary. In it, an easy score goes wrong, and the pair end up in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida.

What the 90 seconds show

Between those lines, the trailer moves fast. An iguana fills the frame on a city crosswalk. Jason and Lucia relax in a convertible at a Globe Oil station. A man in a tactical vest and headset rides in a helicopter over the city at night, and at about 0:49 a rider jumps a dirt bike over an elevated train.

The second half gets busier. A biplane trails pink smoke over a crowded beach, and a tattooed man lounges in an armchair with a snake on his shoulders. A helicopter’s searchlight sweeps a tower as glass bursts from its windows. A man lines up a sniper rifle on a rooftop, and the trailer closes on the game’s logo and a pre-order card.

Other outlets picked out more. Insider Gaming spotted bank heists and police chases, but said the trailer reveals little that fans did not already know. PC Gamer found it more restrained than earlier trailers, with more weight on the characters and the story.

So if you want to see how the game plays, Rockstar’s 26-minute Extended Look from August is still the better guide. The clearest change from the earlier trailers is the music.

The first trailer with music written for the game

As PC Gamer points out, the first two trailers used licensed songs. Trailer 1 had Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road,” and Trailer 2 had the Pointer Sisters’ “Hot Together.” This one uses a new track by Justice, whom Rockstar names as the composers of the game’s original score.

Justice’s work has been in the game’s marketing before. Billboard reported that a press release confirmed the duo also made the score music heard in the August Extended Look.

“Flower in a Hurricane” features Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Rolling Stone Australia counted 11 credited songwriters. It, Stereogum and Billboard all heard a likeness to Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing.”

The single is already on streaming services. It will also appear on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, which Consequence reported will have 34 original tracks and come out on November 19, the same day as the game. A week before the trailer, Rockstar also detailed the GTA 6 radio stations and podcasts.

How the views compare with Trailer 1

Fans found the GTA 6 launch trailer fast. GamesRadar reported that it passed 1 million YouTube views in about half an hour. When we checked the video’s public data at 12:06 UTC on October 16, about 23 hours after upload, it had 24,851,330 views.

That is a huge number, but it is well short of the first trailer. Guinness World Records says Trailer 1 drew 90,421,491 YouTube views in its first 24 hours, a record for a video game trailer. By our math, the launch trailer reached about 27% of that first-day total. Both counts cover YouTube only.

Before November 19: editions, pre-load and PC

The trailer opens with a “Plays best on PS5” card. It ends with the release date, a pre-order message and the game’s Mature rating from the ESRB.

When we checked the US PlayStation Store on October 16, the Standard Edition cost $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99. Both come with the Vintage Vice City Pack, one month of GTA+ that renews automatically, and a seven-day pre-load. That puts the start of downloads around November 12.

The listing also marks the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced and lists it for one player. We looked at that point in our explainer on whether GTA 6 has multiplayer. For prices outside the US, see what GTA 6 costs on day one in 10 countries.

PC players are still waiting. PC Gamer noted on October 15 that there is no official PC announcement yet. PCWorld, citing GamesBeat, reported that four anonymous industry insiders expect a PC release in the first quarter of 2027. Rockstar did not answer GamesBeat’s request for comment, and Xbox has said the game will not stream to PC at launch.

Music fans have one more thing to watch for. Rockstar’s post says more news on the game’s music, including the official score album, is on the way.
