Is Peak Crossplay? Not Yet, but Console Crossplay Is Coming: The Developer Timeline

Short answer: Not yet, but it is coming. Peak is on PC only right now, so there is nothing to cross-play with. Its developers have announced that the console versions will play with the existing Steam community, and they have already added the system that will make it work. No console release date has been announced. Here is the timeline from the developers’ own posts, as of October 14, 2026.

August 11: crossplay announced

In “The Final Ascent,” the Steam post for Peak’s last major update, the developers at Aggro Crab and Landfall wrote that they could now focus on bringing the game to consoles, and added:

“PEAK is going to be cross-platform, meaning that anyone who picks up the game on console will be able to play with the existing Steam community, as well as any other console platforms!!”

The same post explains why there is no Steam Workshop: after talking with modders, the team decided against it because many modders prefer other tools and “it isn’t possible to use the Steam Workshop cross-platform.” Mods are made by the community through unofficial tools.

September 2: room codes added

Patch 2.04.a merged the console porting work into the Steam version and added room codes. “This is how players will be able to play cross-platform once our console ports are out,” the patch notes say. A room code appears on the pause menu in a lobby and can be shared with friends.

October 2: console work still under way

In patch 2.6.a, the developers apologized for bugs with reconnecting and saved games, explaining that integrating “the changes necessary to support PEAK on consoles” had broken how player and world state are saved, the patch notes say.

The PlayStation 5 rating

The ESRB has rated Peak for PlayStation 5, E10+ with Fantasy Violence, and lists the interactive element Users Interact. That is the clearest sign so far of a PS5 version, though Aggro Crab and Landfall have not announced which consoles are coming or when.

How many people play now

Peak had 17,251 people playing at once on Steam when we checked at 15:21 UTC on October 14, 2026, according to Steam’s public player-count data. Its Steam page lists 379,532 user reviews, rated Very Positive, and Valve rates it Steam Deck Verified. It costs $7.99.

Last checked: October 14, 2026. We will update this page when the console release and crossplay go live.
