EA Sports Says Fight Night Is Coming Back After 15 Years

EA Sports says its Fight Night boxing series is coming back. The news arrived in the first post from a new Fight Night Instagram account on Oct. 20, 2026, more than 15 years after the last game in the series, Fight Night Champion, came out.
“To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back,” the post from @easportsfn reads. EA has not given a title, platforms, a developer or a release window.
What EA posted
The post went up at 2 p.m. Eastern time on Oct. 20, 2026, as a joint post with EA Sports’ main Instagram account, EA’s company account and other accounts. It shows a pair of boxing gloves hanging over a ring with the line “The fight is never over,” IGN reported. By about 7:30 p.m. Eastern the same day, it had about 39,000 likes and 2,077 comments.
Because the post says so little, it is not yet clear what is coming. IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey wrote that there is no word on whether this is a new game, a remaster or a remake, though he thinks a new entry is more likely given the licensing involved in these games.
Where the series left off
Fight Night Champion was released on March 1, 2011, in North America for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. According to IGN, EA Canada in Vancouver built the first Fight Night and the last two games, while Fight Night Round 2 and Round 3 came from EA Chicago, a studio that has since closed.
Champion was a change of direction for the series. EA’s own store description calls it “the first mature content EA SPORTS title ever,” with realistic blood and body damage, and it added a story mode, Champion Mode, following a middleweight contender named Andre Bishop.

You can still play the last one
Fight Night Champion is still for sale on the U.S. Xbox Store. On Oct. 20, 2026, its listing showed a price of $19.99 and said it plays on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It is rated M for Mature, for blood, suggestive themes, strong language and violence.
While Fight Night was dormant, EA shifted its resources to its UFC series, IGN noted. The latest entry, UFC 6, came out in 2026. The Xbox Store listed UFC 6 at $69.99, on sale for $48.99, on Oct. 20, 2026.
What a U.S. trademark search shows
Game Empress searched the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s trademark database on Oct. 21, 2026. A search for “fight night” returned 65 U.S. filings, live and dead, and none of them was filed by Electronic Arts. Other companies hold live marks with the phrase, including UFC owner Zuffa, which has a live “UFC FIGHT NIGHT” mark in the entertainment-services class.
What happens next
EA Sports has not said when it will share more details. For now, the only official word is the one post on the new @easportsfn account, with no platforms or release window attached.
