GTA 6 Gameplay Leak Shows Basketball, Six-Star Wanted Level and Leonida Map

Apparent GTA 6 gameplay hit the internet on August 18, 2026, and Rockstar still hasn’t said a word about it.

The footage, posted by a group calling itself CyberLeek, shows protagonist Jason Duval doing everything from shooting hoops to swinging a wrench in a fistfight. There’s a six-star wanted level in there too, plus a pile of smaller systems fans have spent years guessing at. CyberLeek also dumped what it claims is the map of Leonida, the game’s setting. Whether any of it is genuine, neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive will say.

Kotaku broke the story, and its write-up leans almost entirely on Jason. Lucia Caminos, the game’s other lead, barely shows up. PC Gamer then sat with the video and catalogued a long list of mechanics, while flagging that a lot of what people are “seeing” is guesswork, not fact.

Basketball, and a Focus stat

Here’s the strange one. Jason plays basketball in a clip, and every made shot bumps a “Focus” meter up by 2%. PC Gamer caught it. Nobody knows what Focus actually does, but the fact that a pickup game feeds a stat hints Rockstar wants downtime to matter, the way it toyed with in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The six-star wanted level is back

The police stuff is the part everyone’s talking about. Six stars appear to be back, and the HUD suggests cops now clock you by your clothes, your face and your car rather than just knowing where you are. Rockstar later showed the six-star wanted level in its official GTA 6 Extended Look. If that holds up, shaking heat becomes less about outrunning police and more about not looking like the guy they’re after.

The clips pack in plenty else. Stamina drains when Jason sprints. Cars have fuel gauges and engine wear, and trunks hold gear. That fuel gauge kicked off its own argument about whether GTA cars will finally need refuelling, though a meter on a screen settles nothing about the finished game.

About that “morality system”

At one point a small devil icon pops up mid-fight, and the internet did what the internet does. Cue theories that GTA 6 tracks morality or reputation somehow. PC Gamer floated it as a possible morality system and left it there. There’s no confirmed karma mechanic. There’s an icon.

The Leonida map

The gameplay didn’t come alone. GamesRadar reported a leaked Leonida map alongside it, thick with roads, islands and landmarks stretching across the region and Vice City. Call it what it is: an alleged leak, not the finished map.

Rockstar isn’t talking

A few of the videos have already been pulled over copyright claims, per The Verge, which is usually a decent sign the material is the real thing. CyberLeek has warned that the GTA 6 build could leak if Take-Two tries to track the group down. Rockstar and Take-Two, meanwhile, have said nothing.

CyberLeek claims it’s doing all this to protest things like digital pre-orders. It’s also quietly pushing a cryptocurrency, which is exactly why game-preservation advocates and a few outlets aren’t buying the noble-cause framing.

And the caveat that matters most: this is a development build. Anything on screen can change before launch, and leaked clips are a poor way to judge how the finished game looks or runs.

The reason any of it lands now is timing. Rockstar’s official showcase, GTA 6: An Extended Look, is due August 27, 2026, with the game itself arriving November 19 on PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
