STLCC Lists Online Marvel Rivals Tryouts for September 7

St. Louis Community College is officially kicking off its Fall 2026 varsity esports roster search with a series of online tryouts beginning Monday, September 7, running through September 10. According to STLCC’s official events calendar, the sessions are organized directly through STLCC Athletics and feature four consecutive evenings of competitive action — starting with NetEase’s red-hot team hero shooter, Marvel Rivals.

The collegiate esports landscape continues to expand rapidly across the country, with institutions actively recruiting talent through competitive tryouts and financial aid — similar to Carroll University’s varsity esports scholarships and major scholastic pipelines like Arizona State’s gaming competition. For STLCC, this week’s tryout block gives both veteran players and new students a chance to claim a spot on the Archers’ competitive squad.

When Are STLCC’s Online Esports Tryouts?

All tryout sessions will run online from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. CDT each evening. The three-hour window represents the full active play session rather than a cutoff to join. Here is the nightly breakdown:

• Monday, Sept. 7: Marvel Rivals
• Tuesday, Sept. 8: Additional titles (based on community & player interest)
• Wednesday, Sept. 9: Overwatch
• Thursday, Sept. 10: VALORANT

Where Students Can Find Signup Information

Players interested in trying out can register using the official STLCC Esports signup form via Microsoft Forms. The questionnaire asks applicants to specify their intended tryout dates, competitive rank, preferred roles, and in-game experience across their titles of choice.

In addition to competitive roster spots, the program is actively scouting behind-the-scenes broadcast talent. Students interested in shoutcasting, color commentary, or broadcast production for STLCC’s official Twitch streams can also apply through the same form.

The form welcomes submissions from current STLCC students, dual-enrollment high schoolers, graduating high school seniors, and prospective transfers, though submitting interest does not guarantee roster selection or athletic eligibility. Applicants are also encouraged to join the official STLCC Esports Discord server for real-time lobby codes, match coordination, and scrim schedules.

What It Takes to Make the Team

Because esports is governed under STLCC Athletics — based out of the college’s South County campus — making the roster requires meeting formal collegiate athletic standards, not just performing well on the server. According to program guidelines, selected student-athletes must meet the following criteria:

• Enroll in at least 12 credit hours (full-time student status).
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Complete at least one scheduled hour of tutoring per week at any STLCC campus.
• Have reliable transportation to the STLCC South County campus for all mandatory practices, scrims, and official match days.
• Complete a standard sports physical, maintain health insurance, and secure full athletic clearance prior to active competition.
