When is the Tekken 8 Release for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Tekken 8 is scheduled to be released between April 2023 and March 2024. It will be available on next-gen platforms such as the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PC to fully realize the game’s potential.

In their recent fiscal report (translation from ResetEra), Bandai Namco stated, “From the next fiscal year onwards, new titles in the Tekken series and joint development with FromSoftware have been decided.”

The company mentions several books in the series, which is intriguing. If this isn’t a translation error, it could suggest that Tekken 7 will get a complete edition before Tekken 8 is released, following the pattern of multiple previous titles, or that last-gen systems will get a different Tekken game, so users don’t feel entirely left behind. Tekken 8 Trailers

The first Tekken 8 trailer shows the conflict between Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima, the two main protagonists, in the middle of a desolate, rainy wasteland. The two exchange blows before Jin, empowered by his demon gene, deals Kazuya the killing blow.

The trailer’s opening disclaimer gives us hope that the game’s final release will have similarly impressive visuals to those shown in the teaser because it implies that the imagery is real-time, in-engine footage.

It's time for a next-gen grudge match! 🥊

Tekken 8 Story

The plot revolves around Jin and his friends as they plot their ultimate revenge on Kazuya, and the trailers we’ve seen so far confirm this. Jun Kazama, Jin’s mother, makes her first canonical appearance in the series since Tekken 2.

After Tekken 7 ended, it appeared that Kazuya had killed his father, Heihachi, prolonging the global war between the G Company and the Mishima Zaibatsu for years. In the meantime, Jin wakes up from his coma and begins plotting his revenge on Kazuya.

Recent episodes have revolved mainly around Jin and Kazuya’s devil gene. This genetic power allows them to morph into more powerful devil forms and has been the focus of much of the series’ attention lately. Unlike Kazuya, who has mastered mastering his devil gene, Jin still struggles with giving in to his devil side.

Yet, the trailer’s climax implies that Jin has also learned to control the devil gene; it will be intriguing to watch how this impacts his story and the appearance of Devil Jin.

Tekken 8 Gameplay

While the trailer shows a significant visual improvement compared to Tekken 7, the gameplay appears unchanged. Most of a character’s gameplay tends to carry over from one game to the next, and Tekken 8 is likely to follow this trend.

Some of the gameplay innovations in Tekken 8 that were presented in the teaser at The Game Awards 2022 may have escaped your attention. Still, Tekken North America Regional Finals host Harada filled you in. In the opening scene, Jack is slammed into a wall, causing it to burst and causing significant damage to both the stage and Jack in this video game.

The Rage Art and Rage Drive systems, introduced in Tekken 7, were essential to the game’s meta. When Paul employs a Rage Art while fighting Law, it seems likely that they will make a comeback. The new gameplay mechanic “Heat” may or may not indicate the return of Rage Drive.

Apart from Rage, this can be activated in one of two ways: by performing a “Heat Engager” move, which leads your character to run towards the adversary after hitting them with Heat active, or by pressing a single button.

You’ll now have a timer that rapidly depletes but resets for a moment if an opponent is hurt by or blocks one of your attacks.

To name a few examples, Jack gains a devastating combo ender, Jin learns a mid-combo canceling move that lets skilled fighters stretch combos, and Kazuya transforms into his Devil form as Heat. You can get the complete rundown from the video up there, as there are several standard moves among them.

Recoverable Gauge is a very new feature in Tekken 8. Like in the Tekken Tag Tournament games, a percentage of the damage you take by blocking super moves or from aerial combinations will remain white. The only way to refill this is to damage an opponent or block your attacks.
