Microsoft hasn’t shown off the full Xbox Game Pass September 2026 lineup yet, but five games are already locked in, and one of them’s a real get. Four have firm dates: Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault on September 2, SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed on September 3, Dune: Awakening on September 22, and Minecraft Dungeons II on September 29. The fifth, Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School, is a confirmed day-one Game Pass title for September, it just doesn’t have an exact day nailed down yet.
So take this as the “so far” list, not the finished one. Microsoft still rolls out its usual Game Pass waves as the month goes on, so more names will turn up closer to September. Everything below, though, you can bank on today.

The confirmed Xbox Game Pass September 2026 lineup
| Date | Game | Game Pass status |
|---|---|---|
| September 2 | Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault | Full 1.0 / console launch |
| September 3 | SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed | Day one |
| September (TBA) | Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School | Day one |
| September 22 | Dune: Awakening | Day one on Xbox |
| September 29 | Minecraft Dungeons II | Day one |
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault — September 2
One thing to clear up first, because it trips people up: this isn’t Moonlighter 2’s debut. It’s been in Early Access since late 2025, and September 2 is the full 1.0 release and its Xbox Series X/S arrival. It’s already on PC Game Pass, so the console launch is really the story here.

Digital Sun’s sequel keeps the double life that made the first one tick. You raid dungeons for loot, cart it back to town, then work the shop yourself, setting prices, serving customers, and sinking the profits into better gear and the village of Tresna. A roguelite welded to a shopkeeping RPG, basically, and that mash-up is the entire pitch.
SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed — September 3
A day later comes SpeedRunners 2, which takes the original’s ruthless side-scrolling races and bumps the online count up to eight. You’re tearing through courses, grappling past obstacles and chucking pickups at everyone else, and the old tension still holds: drift too far back and the edge of the screen just wipes you out.
It’s a Fair Play Labs game under tinyBuild, and it was penciled in for July before sliding to September, so this is the date that finally holds.
Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School — September, date TBA
This is the one that rounds the list out past what a lot of other roundups bother with. Xbox confirmed back in April that Escape Academy 2 shows up day one on Game Pass, and its Steam page currently pins the window to September 2026. A few database sites have floated a late-September day, but nothing official’s locked it in, so September-with-no-day is the honest call for now.

Coin Crew Games is stretching the concept out from single rooms into a whole open-world campus built out of escape-room puzzles. You can play it solo, online with a partner, or split-screen on the couch, and it’s an Xbox Play Anywhere title across Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
Dune: Awakening — September 22
This is probably the month’s biggest Game Pass moment. Dune: Awakening isn’t new, it hit PC last year, but September 22 is its Xbox arrival and its Game Pass debut, and Funcom’s pitching the console version as more than a straight port, with the improvements made since launch plus a new single-player mode baked in.
The loop is survival on Arrakis: scavenge, fight, craft, and build yourself up from a nobody barely clinging on into someone the planet actually reckons with. It’s landing on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, and the cloud, with Xbox Play Anywhere, cross-play, and cross-progression all in. One date not to mix up, though: Deluxe and Ultimate buyers get paid early access from September 17, which is a separate thing from the September 22 Game Pass date.
Minecraft Dungeons II — September 29
Wrapping up the confirmed run is Minecraft Dungeons II, day one on Game Pass on September 29, out of Xbox Game Studios with Mojang and Double Eleven. It’s not staying in the Xbox lane, either, launching the same day on Steam, PS5, Switch, and Switch 2, or $29.99 if you’d rather just buy it.

The sequel opens the original up with a new story, an interconnected Overworld map to roam instead of picking levels off a menu, fresh enemies, extra gear slots, and deeper builds. Play it solo or pull in up to three friends, with couch and online co-op plus matchmaking.
More games are still on the way
Worth saying again: this is the pre-month picture, not Microsoft’s full Wave 1 and Wave 2 reveal. Plenty more should drop into the September lineup over the next few weeks.
And park one previously announced name off to the side: Valor Mortis was originally set for September 24 with Game Pass, but developer One More Level shoved it to October 13 to get clear of a stacked September. It’s an October game now, not a September one.
