Overwatch 2 Voice Recording is Being Recorded to Look for Abusive Behaviour

Overwatch 2 Voice Recording: To prevent abuse in Overwatch 2, Blizzard will begin listening in on voice chat chats. This comes after many people expressed their displeasure that the community had grown more poisonous since the sequel’s release, blaming it may be on the fact that it is now free-to-play.

Players are now informed that their team voice chat may be recorded in the most recent version to “investigate and validate accusations of abusive behavior.”

With Blizzard now able to review what was said in chat rather than relying on other users to explain this, this may also be part of a strategy to stop people from being wrongly mass-reported.

The November 17 update introduced voice conversation recording, further described in the patch notes. So far, it only impacts PC players in a few regions. Voice communication can now be transcribed under Overwatch’s “Defence Matrix” moderation system if a player is reported.

“Players will now be informed that voice conversation during a play session may be recorded when they enter it for the first time. To make the most of this feature, be careful to report disruptive behavior as soon as possible “check out the patch notes.

Once reported, speech-to-text software will be utilized to create a text file transcript from a temporary audio recording. The explanation goes on, ostensibly to alleviate player worries about privacy and data storage.

According to the statement, the temporary audio recording is not listened to and is immediately deleted after transcribing. “Group party talk is removed from transcriptions. Only reports of disruptive behavior in public voice channels, including team and match chat, are made.”

It will be interesting to observe if this new feature reduces reports of toxic behavior in-game. This transcription program might not eliminate all poisonous players overnight, even after considering all the offensive messages exchanged in text chat.
