Two well-known PS4 games are listed free on the UK PlayStation Store. When GameEmpress checked on 6 October 2026, the standard editions of Mafia III and Call of Duty: WWII both showed a “Free” price and an “Add to Library” button.
According to Push Square, no PlayStation Plus subscription is needed to claim either game, and the offer also appears in some European countries. It is not yet clear whether the listings are a planned promotion or a pricing error that could be reversed.
Pick the right edition
On the UK product pages checked, the original Mafia III and standard Call of Duty: WWII editions were listed free, while the alternative editions below remained paid.
| Game | Free edition | Paid editions |
|---|---|---|
| Mafia III | Mafia III (original PS4 edition) | Mafia III: Definitive Edition, £25 |
| Call of Duty: WWII | Call of Duty: WWII (standard PS4 edition) | Gold Edition, £54.99; Digital Deluxe Edition, £29.74 on sale (normally £84.99) |
Mafia III’s page also lists a separate free demo, so make sure you add the full game. Its add-ons, including the DLC Content Pack and three story expansions, are listed as free too.
How to claim them
- Sign in to your PlayStation account.
- Open the Mafia III or Call of Duty: WWII product page.
- Check that the full game, not a paid edition or the demo, shows “Free”.
- Select “Add to Library”.
If the page shows a price or an error, the offer may not be available to you or may have ended, so do not pay expecting a free game.
Online play is a separate matter. PlayStation describes online multiplayer as a benefit included with PlayStation Plus memberships, so players without a subscription should not expect the free claim to cover Call of Duty: WWII’s online multiplayer.
Not free everywhere
Push Square said that in the US, Mafia III was still $29.99, although its add-ons were free, and Call of Duty: WWII was full price at $59.99.
Neither free standard-edition listing displayed a claim deadline when checked on 6 October 2026. The deadline shown for Call of Duty: WWII’s Digital Deluxe Edition applies to its separate paid sale.
What you get

Mafia III, developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K, came out in 2016. Set in 1968 in New Bordeaux, a reimagined New Orleans, it follows Vietnam veteran Lincoln Clay on a revenge mission against the Italian Mafia.
Call of Duty: WWII, published by Activision, followed in 2017. Its campaign starts on D-Day in Normandy and moves across the European theatre. It also has multiplayer and co-op modes.
Both are PS4 games, not native PS5 versions. Their store pages say they are playable on PS5, though some PS4 features may be absent.
