You can see a new trailer for Lies of P, a dark, Souls-like take on the Pinocchio story, that debuted this week at IGN Fan Fest. In the trailer’s conclusion, we learn that the release date will be in August of this year.
Much of the time was spent on the creepy monsters in Lies of P, which in this video look like an odd mix of robotic puppet creatures and weird, slimy, Lovecraftian horrors. Plenty of scenes include a mysterious figure who looks like the Blue Fairy from the original Pinocchio tale but who, given the dark nature of Lies of P, might not be as reliable this time around.

Most of the major characters from the classic (or Disney) Pinocchio tale have now been introduced, including Geppetto and a friend who may or may not be a reference to Jiminy Cricket. Just how far this will depart from what we know about the tiny wooden boy is unclear, as he didn’t have to fight off any Lovecraftian horrors in the original narrative.
But, we have seen a lot of combat that is reminiscent of Lies of P’s Souls, as well as its lie system, in which your decision to lie, and how you lie, in various scenarios, will have consequences for the narrative.
