Doom Eternal: The game is played from a first-person perspective, and players once again assume the character of the Doom Slayer, who is engaged in combat with the evil powers of Hell. The game continues the focus that its predecessor placed on “push-forward” combat, which encourages the player to confront foes in a hostile manner in order to obtain health, ammunition, and armor.

Doom Eternal
The player is provided with a selection of weaponry to choose from, including the Combat Shotgun, the Super Shotgun, the Heavy Cannon, the Rocket Launcher, the Plasma Rifle, the Chaingun, the BFG 9000, and the Ballista. A chainsaw, the energy sword known as the “Crucible Blade,” the Sentinel Argent Hammer, and a retractable arm-blade known as the “Doomblade” are all examples of melee weapons that can be utilized.
The arm-blade affords the user the possibility of carrying out a greater range of swift and brutal “glorious kill” executions, each of which results in the loss of further health. The “Meat Hook” is a new ranged accessory that can be attached to the Super Shotgun. It functions like a grappling hook and is useful in both combat and environmental navigation. The “Meat Hook” can now be attached to the Super Shotgun.
The Doom Slayer’s armor has been updated to add a shoulder-mounted Equipment Launcher, which gives the wearer the ability to throw grenades as well as ice bombs. Additionally, there is a flamethrower known as the Flame Belch that may be used to set foes ablaze and cause them to drop armor pickups.
Last but not least, using the chainsaw to slaughter foes will result in the drop of ammunition. In addition, new mobility features have been included, such as the ability to climb walls, perform dash maneuvers, and swing from horizontal bars.
Doom Eternal, much like its forerunner, encourages players to come up with straightforward strategies. As the difficulty of the game increases, the player will need to make greater strategic use of the benefits offered by fight venues and the bonuses they provide. In addition to this, they have to determine which foe needs to be eliminated first and how to maneuver across the battlefield.
Hugo Martin, the creative director of the game, has claimed that there would be twice as many different varieties of demons as there were in the 2016 version. There are some new kinds of foes, including the Marauder and the Doom Hunter, while others, like the Pain Elemental, the Arachnotron, and the Arch-vile, have been brought back from earlier Doom games.
There is a new mechanic included in the game referred to as “Destructible Demons,” in which the bodies of adversaries slowly decay as they absorb damage. Through the use of this method, specific components of a demon’s anatomy can be obliterated, rendering them incapable of using their more powerful assaults.
In addition to it, there is a new life system. Throughout the course of the game, players have the opportunity to find and collect one-up items, which are denoted by artifacts that resemble green headgear. If the Doom Slayer has extra lives, when he dies in battle he will respawn at the location where he passed away rather than having to begin the game over at the nearest checkpoint.
The game includes a number of different asymmetric multiplayer modes, one of which is called Battlemode. This form of player-versus-player battle takes place over the course of several rounds, and it pits two player-controlled demons against one fully equipped Slayer. At launch, there will be a total of five playable demons, with additional demons coming in for free updates after the game has been released.
The Marauder, the Mancubus, the Pain Elemental, the Revenant, the Arch-vile, and the Dread Knight are the six demons that are currently available. In addition to its standard assaults, each demon also possesses what is known as a “summoning wheel,” which provides access to an additional set of four skills. As part of version 6.66, which was released on October 26, 2021, a new game mode known as Horde mode was also included.
The “Fortress of Doom” hub area, which players may visit between missions, is another new addition to the game. This section contains a variety of chambers with upgrades and items sealed behind doors. Players can visit this area between missions. In addition, after completing six difficult Slayer Gates, players will be able to acquire an extra weapon known as the Unmaykr.
