It should come as no surprise that according to Blizzard Entertainment, Sorcerer and Necromancer topped the list of classes played the most during the Diablo 4 open beta weekend.
The number of times players died to Ashava, the world boss of the beta, as well as the number of creatures killed, the number of hours spent playing, the number of times players ran into The Butcher and perished, and other statistics were also made public.
The Sorcerer and Necromancer classes became the most popular in the Diablo 4 open beta. These classes use a range of spells and magic to command the battlefield and are thought to be extraordinarily powerful, especially for newbies.
While necromancers can call out armies of the undead to battle with them, sorcerers can unleash powerful AoE and ranged attacks by channeling the force of the elements. Throughout the beta, I routinely utilized both classes, and they were both maxed out at level 25.
Even though Blizzard withheld the statistics for the other classes, we can only speculate that the Barbarian may not have been a popular pick, given the numerous complaints that the class seemed noticeably weaker than other classes until it fully leveled up.
According to additional statistics provided by Blizzard, 2.6 million players have obtained the Beta Wolf Pack, a reward available only to those who exceed the level 25 threshold. Approximately 46 million players died over the open beta weekend, and over 29 billion monsters were also killed.
Ashava murdered 10 million players, but only 100,000 managed to slay the formidable beast (and one player who impressively managed almost to solo it). See the complete statistics below:
Only 576,000 players could defeat The Butcher, the notorious demon of the franchise and one of the random encounters in the beta, which claimed the lives of 1.7 million players. Players invested more than 61 million hours in the open beta.
If this indicates the debut of the entire game, Diablo 4 will likely be a massive hit for Blizzard. On June 6, 2023, Diablo 4 will be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
