Players of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 cannot play the game with specific hardware setups due to some significant difficulties with the game. This issue also impacts Warzone 2. Even worse, Call of Duty users is experiencing shadow bans that are seemingly random and restrict them from playing the well-liked first-person shooter. Some players claim to have had upwards of ten bans.
Activision’s most popular property overall is Call of Duty. Therefore it isn’t enjoyable for the series fans when they cannot play for whatever reason. Despite an update to the Ricochet anti-cheat system, the current shadow ban wave has not yet been handled, and gamers are looking for workarounds without a response from Activision.
Another problem is the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 hardware problems. AMD Vega series GPU users experience a DirectX error when starting the game. Beenox, the Activision division in charge of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2’s PC versions, acknowledged the problem on April 17 but hasn’t yet found a solution.
According to players, the error started after the Season 3 update, which was released on April 12, and before which AMD Vega GPUs handled the game pretty smoothly. There have been no updates from Beenox regarding the problem. Therefore, it is unclear when a remedy will be provided.

Although it is annoying when updates break a game, updates aren’t always a bad thing. An update recently fixed minor visual issues in Call of Duty, but those experiencing hardware problems and shadow bans are probably unhappy with these fixes.
Since Call of Duty is one of the most played video games in the world and the main point of contention in Microsoft’s pursuit of Activision Blizzard, the franchise’s owner, one cannot help but feel sympathy for these players.

Despite all the problems Modern Warfare 2 is experiencing, some players can’t help but be excited for the upcoming Call of Duty game. Other players are so frustrated that they feel uninstalling Modern Warfare 2, and never playing it again is the only option. Before too many players abandon the brand entirely, Activision and its subsidiary Beenox should hopefully find a solution to these problems.
