Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is a PlayStation 4 action-adventure game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and released by Sega. This is the eighth Yakuza game and the final to feature Kazuma Kiryu. It was published in Japan in December 2016.
The English version was launched at different times in different countries, although it was first made accessible in March 2018 in Southeast Asia and then in April 2018 everywhere else.
There were two versions released in March of 2021: one for PC and one for Xbox One. The next entry in the Yakuza series, Like a Dragon, is scheduled for release in 2020. It’s essentially a rehash of the second game in the series, Yakuza Kiwami 2.
Yakuza 6 -The Song Of Life Gameplay
In Yakuza 6, you are a third-person action hero in a vast, free-roaming world. The gameplay combines exploration with beat-them-up-style arcade fighting using ragdoll physics, similar to earlier Yakuza games.
The new Dragon Engine, also utilized in Yakuza Kiwami 2, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and the spin-off Judgment, completely reworked the visual style and fighting systems of Yakuza 6. In addition, a new mode dubbed Extreme Heat Mode replaces Yakuza 5’s Dragon Spirit Mode, making Kiryu immune to knockback. At the same time, his Heat is active and allowing his combo finishers to transform into Heat actions that do enormous damage has been added to the game.
In addition, the game uses a system very similar to that of Yakuza Kiwami 2: there are multiple types of experience points, and the player can unlock various benefits by spending the appropriate kind of experience; experience points can also be earned by dining at restaurants, though doing so increases the hunger gauge, which limits how much food the player can eat and gradually decreases throughout the game.

Yakuza 6 -The Song Of Life Trailer
The combat trailer for Like A Dragon: Ishin showcases the four styles that Ryoma (recognizable as Kiryu’s equivalent to fans of the Yakuza series, now known in Japan as Like A Dragon) will use as he fights his way across the streets of Kyoto with the shadowy Shinsengumi police force in search of those responsible for his mentor’s death.
The first style, “Swordsman,” gives Ryoma the steady, fast blows typical of a samurai by having him take a low posture and conservative movements while delivering furious cuts and lethal stabs. His enemies are met with gunfire as he fires from a handgun and uses doughnut rolls to avoid harm.
Yakuza 6 -The Song Of Life Plot
Still recovering from his injuries sustained in the previous game, Kazuma Kiryu accepts a three-year jail sentence for his past offences so that he may retire peacefully with his foster children. Upon his departure, the criminal power structure of Kamurocho underwent a sea change, with Katsumi Sugai and Takumi Someya usurping the Tojo Clan, the Chinese Saio Triad, which specializes in heihaizi human trafficking, rising to prominence, and the Jingweon Mafia reclaiming the majority of the district.
In 2016, Kiryu learned that Haruka escaped the public eye in Onomichi, Hiroshima, after her contested retirement. She was recently struck by a car in Kamurocho, where she lies comatose. After learning she is a mother, Kiryu and her newborn baby Haruto go to Onomichi. Locals Toru Hirose and his sons, Tsuyoshi Nagumo, Naoto Tagashira, Takaaki Matsunaga, and grandson Yuta Usami, extend a hearty welcome to Kiryu.
Haruto encounters many critical people in the Onomichi Yakuza world during his quest for his father, including Takeru Kurusu, alias Heizo Iwami, head of the formidable Yomei alliance, and Tsuneo Iwami, CEO of his front firm, Iwami Shipbuilding.
In addition, Kiryu learns that Sugai and Someya, in the name of the Tojo Clan, started the conflict with the Saio Triad, which included the burning of Little Asia, so that Daigo could be convicted of the crime and thrown in jail. However, Tsuneo Iwami’s fortification of the Saio Triad exacerbated tensions between the two criminal organizations.
After that, Iwami betrayed them by having the Jingweon Mafia kill Big Lo’s oldest son. Iwami and the Saio Triad are both in on the “secret of Omonichi.” The Saio Triad, consisting of Sugai and Sugai, has been suppressed with Someya’s appeal for Kiryu’s help. Kiryu rejects the offer because of his role in Daigo’s wrongful conviction.
Eventually, Hirose confesses that Yuta, the youngest son of Big Lo, is Haruto’s father. Big Lo’s servants, Masuzose and Tatsukawa, surreptitiously pushed Yuta into studying Chinese culture from an early age to succeed his older brother as triad king in the event of his death. After his brother’s death, Haruto’s mixed heritage made him a target for the Saio Triad.
To show that he is the ultimate leader, Tatsukawa and his Jingweon friends have decided to sell Haruto to Tsueno Iwami. In Kamurocho, he manages to get Haruka to go through with the plan, but not before he runs her over. As punishment for his betrayal, the triad tortures and kills Tatsukawa.
