Indie skateboarding, rock-opera platforming, and one of the best Final Fantasy games are going the way of the dodo. To answer your question, the massive Disney Animal Crossing knockoff is available on Game Pass today. But Microsoft’s famous games-on-demand service is about to take a significant hit in September when some of its best games, such as a must-play Final Fantasy and other intriguing independent games, will no longer be available through the service. The following is a rundown of everything that will be added to and removed from Xbox Game Pass in the coming weeks:

Xbox Games Pass: Excellent Games Leaving
September 13
- Escalation, also known as Ashes of the Singularity (PC)
- Krypto and Ace’s exploits in the DC League of Super-Pets animated series (Cloud, Console, PC)
September 14
- You Suck At Parking (Cloud, Console, PC, Every single day you drive IRL)
September 15
- Despot’s Game (Console, PC)
- Metal: Hellinger (Next-gen console, PC)
The clear standout is Disney Dreamlight Valley, which is essentially the Disney+ catalog filtered via Animal Crossing and The Sims. It is a highly anticipated life-sim that is ideal for people who travel to Disneyland at least once yearly (you know who you are). It’s a shame that console players who haven’t yet purchased an Xbox Series X or S won’t be able to try out Metal: Hellsinger, which is a rhythm-based first-person shooter with strong echoes of Doom Eternal.
I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s all about, but it’s a bummer that they won’t be able to.
However, the roster only consists of two games that sound interesting compared to the plethora of other titles that are about to be released. Since September 15th, the following items are no longer available:
- A Plague Tale: Innocence (Cloud, Console, PC)
- Aragami 2 (Cloud, Console, PC)
- Fables of the Insect World: The Tree That Never Dies (Cloud, Console, PC)
- Craftopia (Cloud, Console, PC)
- Final Fantasy XIII (Console, PC) (Console, PC)
- Flynn, also known as Crimson’s Son (Cloud, Console, PC)
- Fish That I Am (Cloud, Console, PC)
- Beyond the Page, Where the Lost Words Are (Cloud, Console, PC)
- The Powerful Goose (Cloud, Console, PC)
- SkateBird (Cloud, Console, PC)
- The Brilliant Escapade (Cloud, Console, PC)
The gloomy stealth video game A Plague Tale: Innocence has been a mainstay on Kotaku’s list of the top games on Game Pass for a long time. (The release of its sequel, titled A Plague Tale: Requiem, is scheduled for the following month.) Final Fantasy XIII is undoubtedly one of the most exciting entries in Square Enix’s RPG series, even though fans have strong opinions on the game. The platforming in Lost Words: Beyond the Page may be simplistic, but the game’s top-notch narrative, which was written by Rhianna Pratchett, who also wrote for Tomb Raider and Mirror’s Edge, serves as the foundation for a heartbreaking story that is wrapped in fantastical escapism.
The cooperative stealth game Aragami 2 is a lot of fun to play with a friend. The skateboard is very similar to THPS, except you play as a young bird. The Artful Escape is a fever dream of progressive rock and flashing lights that last for four hours. It is recommended that you check out each one. It’s a significant blow to the library altogether, and it’s creating a lot of gaps that don’t appear to be getting filled by any of the new books being added. However, let’s not forget about Disney Animal Crossing!
