WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers and Dead by Daylight Lead Xbox’s Latest Free Play Days

Five games are free to try on Xbox in the latest round of Free Play Days, but who can play depends on the game. Four of them need a Game Pass membership. The fifth, Dead by Daylight, is open to all Xbox members on console without one.

Xbox announced the lineup on Xbox Wire on Oct. 29, 2026. It is not a giveaway. Free Play Days access is temporary. After the promotion ends, players need to purchase the game or have another valid entitlement, such as an eligible subscription that includes it, to continue playing.

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, Darkwood, Spirittea and EVERSPACE 2 can be played from Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, through Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, by Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential members. Xbox says Spirittea and EVERSPACE 2 are available across console and PC.

Dead by Daylight is listed separately, under “Free Play Days For All.” It is available now through Nov. 2, 2026, for all Xbox members to try on console, and Xbox says a Game Pass Ultimate, Premium or Essential membership is not required.

Xbox describes WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, published by 505 Games, as a soulslike action RPG set in the land of Shu during the late Ming Dynasty. In Darkwood, players scavenge eerie forests by day and hunker down in a hideout at night. Spirittea has players reopening an old bathhouse for troublesome spirits, and EVERSPACE 2 is a single-player space shooter built around loot drops.

Four of the five games are also discounted, and the sale dates do not all match the free-play dates. Xbox says both editions of WUCHANG and its Deluxe Upgrade DLC are 30% off during the free-play period, Spirittea is 50% off, and EVERSPACE 2 is 80% off, with up to 50% off its Titans and Wrath of the Ancients expansions. The U.S. prices displayed in Xbox Wire’s Oct. 29, 2026, announcement were $34.99 for WUCHANG, down from $49.99; $9.99 for Spirittea, down from $19.99; and $9.99 for EVERSPACE 2, down from $49.99.

Dead by Daylight’s base game is up to 60% off, and select DLC is discounted until Nov. 4, 2026, two days after the game’s free-play window closes. The announcement displayed a U.S. price of $11.99 for Dead by Daylight, down from $29.99. Xbox did not list a discount for Darkwood, which was displayed at $14.99. Xbox notes that discounts, percentages and availability may vary by title and region.

Players who buy a game after trying it keep the Gamerscore and achievements they earned during the event, according to Xbox. The games can be installed from each game’s page on Xbox.com, which sends players to the Microsoft Store, where they need to be signed in to see the install option. On a compatible Xbox console, open the Xbox Store’s Subscriptions tab and look for the Free Play Days collection. Check each game’s listing for supported platforms. Dead by Daylight’s Microsoft Store listing is linked from the post, and Xbox has a separate Free Play Days FAQ.
