Developer Omega Force is best known for its series of Warriors games (Dynasty Warriors, Hyrule Warriors, etc.), but the Koei Tecmo-owned studio’s next project will return to a genre it last dabbled in half a decade ago with Toukiden: monster hunting. This will be Omega Force’s first game in the Monster Hunter series.
Wild Hearts Has a Different Approach to Monster Hunting
Wild Hearts, which Electronic Arts are publishing, takes the style of the game made famous by Capcom’s Monster Hunter and gives it a few twists. Players can battle gigantic monsters mutated by their natural environments, and the game will also include some tower defense elements.

At The Game Awards on Thursday, Omega Force and EA displayed other Kemono monsters that will appear in the upcoming video game Wild Hearts. There is a wolf with the name Deathstalker that is infested with ice, a hawk with the name Amaterasu that is infested with maple trees and sunlight, and a tiger with the name Golden Tempest that is afflicted with roots and gold dust.
The developers of Wild Hearts explained that their Kemono monsters were intended to be frightening in terms of their aggression and will to survive, even though they appear magical. This is because the developers wanted their monsters to be believable.

The design of Kemono began with the game’s boar creature, a beast with enormous tusks and an abundance of eyes infused with the trees of its surroundings. These characteristics inspired Kemono’s design.
The art director for Wild Hearts, Yu Oboshi, told Polygon through a translator that the habitat these wild creatures live in affects them, and in turn, these animals impact the world around them.
