This past weekend, the playtest for the Texas Chain Saw Massacre game received its first update, which added some maintenance work and a new batch of keys to let additional players play.
After the maintenance was announced and completed, publisher Gun Interactive and developer Sumo Digital Nottingham stated as much on social media.
However, this update also gave players access to another new map to test besides the Family House map that the playtest started with. Players can try the Slaughterhouse map to see how it differs from the others (presumably for this playtest’s duration).
The tweet regarding The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’s update and maintenance did not mention the upgrade. Still, players quickly became aware of the change after updating the playtest and joining a match.
A community manager for Gun Interactive on Reddit acknowledged the addition of the map. Players are now on the daytime version of Slaughterhouse instead of the Family House, the only available map.
The layout of the new map will need to be learned from scratch, as you probably only got acclimated to the previous one. Still, hopefully, some of the knowledge and strategies you learned from the last map will transfer over.
We already know that the Family House, the Slaughterhouse, and the Gas Station will all be included in the game’s final version when it debuts in a few months on August 18.
Although it’s not yet known if the Gas Station will be included in this playtest, given that it won’t end until May 28th, it’s feasible the developers will allow enough time for players to test out the Gas Station.

The game’s developers have previously discussed the three separate maps to contextualize their differences. The Family House is the most recognizable location from the movies.
Therefore, it makes sense that it would be the first map to be played on and have a layout that mostly matches what was shown in the film.

However, the Slaughterhouse is intended to be more of a maze, so if you like dodging or chasing individuals in the Family House basement, you might find greater enjoyment in the Slaughterhouse.
According to a preview of the maps in the game,
“The Family House sits virtually alone in a sea of green grass and sunflowers with open lines of sight anywhere outside. The Gas Station is littered with junk piles and broken-down vehicles that have been dumped and forgotten in the spaces between buildings. The Slaughterhouse is this maze-like claustrophobic tangle of broken down buildings and cattle panels.”
