Zach Cregger’s movie is all set to hit theaters on September 18, 2026. The film is picking up momentum as its marketing campaign gets underway. While fans are eagerly awaiting the public release of the trailer, which was previewed exclusively at CinemaCon, Sony Pictures has already launched the movie’s official website this week.
With the release date confirmed, an official website has gone live. For now, it just shows a brief preview featuring the film’s logo, its release date and confirmation that it will be shown in IMAX.

Zach Cregger Calls Resident Evil A Scary Ride
At CinemaCon, Zach Cregger described it as a “big, scary ride.” He added that the movie follows a main character on a long journey walking through a dangerous world that feels like it is trying to destroy them. Critics at CinemaCon compared its relentless pacing to Mad Max: Fury Road.
Cregger clarified that he is not sticking closely to the video game storyline. He wants the film to feel like the experience of playing the games.
Resident Evil Requiem Sells Over 7 Million Copies
Separately, on the gaming side of the franchise, momentum is equally strong. Requiem has sold over 7 million copies since its release. Director Koshi Nakanishi even shared the excitement by posting an image of Requiem-themed cakes on his social media.
