Redfall May Be Postponed Once More by Microsoft: The first game from Arkane Studios since its acquisition by Microsoft won’t stop. Microsoft is reportedly planning to delay the game further, by at least a quarter, after it was already delayed until next year (along with Starfield).
According to Okami, who works in the industry, Redfall’s release date was delayed “by about six weeks” because of the Bethesda Softworks subsidiary. Okami claims that Redfall’s release date has been pushed back to May from March.
The source has not explained why the Redfall release is being brought forward by more than a month. They could have quickly just said, “it’s for the best,” though.
For one thing, we live in a time when delays are the norm. The COVID-19 pandemic and Cyberpunk 2077 are both to blame for this. When fans know that extra time will be used to make the final product better, they are more understanding of setbacks in the release schedule.
However, that doesn’t mean we can’t make any assumptions about what’s happening behind the scenes. The Xbox-exclusive games Starfield and Redfall were both critically acclaimed hits. Microsoft may hold off on releasing Redfall until later in 2019, so they can focus on Starfield during the first part of the year.
This strategy paid off for Sony earlier this year when both Horizon: Forbidden West and God of War: Ragnarok sold well despite releasing in the same year (with the latter being nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards).
Update on Redfall's release date.
Have heard that it's been pushed back internally by about 6 weeks. Currently targeting an early May release.
Unfortunate news but I'm sure it's for the best. https://t.co/JuytC5KxWw pic.twitter.com/PIsBaH24y3

Fans who were never really sure when Redfall might be released shouldn’t be too disappointed by this report. A release window in May “might” help with this, but until we hear otherwise, take everything you’ve read here with a grain of salt.
No matter how long it takes for Redfall to reach Xbox One, the platform desperately needs it. The tech behemoth is well aware that it has fallen behind Sony in exclusive games, but this is not for lack of trying.
There was supposedly a long list of things Microsoft had planned for the following year, but everything changed. Third-party releases aren’t enough to keep Game Pass afloat, so here’s hoping Microsoft can pick up where it left off.
