Pokemon Go players can look forward to a new month of field research tasks and rewards in July 2023. Field research tasks are missions you can complete by spinning PokeStops, catching Pokemon, battling in raids, or meeting other objectives.
Completing a field research task will reward you with items, Stardust, or encounters with rare Pokemon. You can also earn a stamp for each day you complete at least one field research task, and collecting seven stamps will allow you to encounter a particular Pokemon in the research breakthrough box.

Here are some of the field research tasks and rewards for July 2023:
- Catch 10 Pokemon: Magikarp (shiny chance), Chinchou, or Finneon
- Catch 5 different species of Pokemon: Clamperl (shiny chance) or Shellder
- Catch a Dragon-type Pokemon: Dratini (shiny chance), Bagon, or Gible
- Use 5 berries to help catch Pokemon: Teddiursa (shiny chance) or Swinub
- Make 3 great throws: Gastly (shiny chance), Anorith, or Lileep
- Make 5 nice throws: Dunsparce (shiny chance) or Voltorb
- Make 3 excellent throws in a row: Larvitar (shiny chance) or Beldum
- Win a raid: Bronzor (shiny chance) or Klink
- Win 3 charges: Absol (shiny chance) or Scyther
- Win 5 charges: Aerodactyl (shiny chance) or Lapras
- Hatch an egg: Sandshrew (shiny chance), Pineco, or Mantine
- Hatch 3 eggs: Togetic or Azumarill
- Hatch 5 eggs: Chansey (shiny chance) or Riolu
- Evolve a Pokemon: Eevee (shiny chance) or Porygon
- Power up a Pokemon 5 times: Bulbasaur (shiny chance), Charmander (shiny chance), or Squirtle (shiny event)
- Trade a Pokemon: Alolan Meowth (shiny chance), Alolan Geodude, or Alolan Diglett
- Transfer 10 Pokemon: Misdreavus (shiny chance) or Shuppet
- Send 3 gifts to friends: Roselia (shiny chance) or Buneary
- Spin 10 PokeStops or Gyms: Sudowoodo (shiny chance) or Wobbuffet

The research breakthrough reward for July 2023 is Regirock. Regirock is a legendary Rock-type Pokemon useful in raids and battles. It has high defense and can learn powerful moves like Stone Edge, Rock Slide, and Focus Blast. Regirock is weak to Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel-type attacks, so be prepared with your best counters. You can also encounter shiny Regirock if you are lucky.
