The time has flown by so quickly. After two months after its release, Season 2 of Overwatch has already begun. The pace of Blizzard isn’t about to slow down any time soon; this season has been jam-packed with content, and more is on the way.

From December 6 through February 7, we will enjoy two months of entertainment, just like the previous season. Even small adjustments will be important to understand as you enter your matches as we depart from the comfort of old Overwatch and follow Blizzard down the rabbit hole.

Let’s begin this new season with the knowledge that we’ll update this guide frequently with all the details you require. This season is for Greek Mythology enthusiasts (or anyone who just thinks it looks interesting).

The majority of the speech lines, sprays, and skins in the Battle Pass have a distinctly divine aspect. A Mythic Junker Queen Zeus Skin will be your reward for finishing the Battle Pass. This will also be fully configurable, featuring distinctive voice lines, special effects, and new weapon models, just like the Mythic Genji skin from the first season.

Not only Junker Queen will receive some historical attention. The Battle Pass will also allow you to unlock the Legendary Poseidon Ramattra and the Legendary Hades Pharah skins. These heroes and several more “will be bestowed with incredible god-like powers in our new Battle for Olympus game mode,” according to a Blizzard blog post(opens in new tab).

The dates of this brief event are January 5 to January 19. The new skins that have been published this season may provide hints about their design, albeit we are unsure of what it will involve just yet. Should we discover anything, we’ll let you know.

We will also receive a much-needed new map throughout this season in the form of Shambali. If you take a bird’s eye view of this Nepalese location, you can see how the three existing Nepal maps—Village, Shrine, and Temple—were used to build it.

The Shambali Monastery will have a payload and be an escort map. How to travel the journey “walked by many Omnics who have sought sanctuary within its walls” is explained on the Blizzard Blog page.

This indicates the significance of Nepal in the narrative as well as the bond between Zenyatta and the new hero, Ramattra. Together, the characters in this monastery meditated and thought to choose between two destructive and peaceful paths that would ensure the survival of the Omnic people.

While we will be able to play this map in our way, it is also possible that it will appear in future comics or animated films about the friendship of the Omnics.

Overwatch 2 Season 2 New Rotation Maps

Some keen watchers may have also noticed the odd disappearance of a few well-known Overwatch maps. You’ll be glad to know that Blizzard World and Rialto will return to the map rotation for Season 2 if you’ve missed them.

A map rotation is what? In Overwatch 2, this function is brand-new. The round-robin rotation, which will alter every season, will include more maps as they are added. This time, Rialto and Blizzard World will take the place of Hollywood and Gibraltar (though these two maps will still be accessible in custom games).

Throughout the day, Oasis and Nepal will also make appearances at various moments. At the Overwatch League finals, it was revealed that Ramattra would be the new tank character for Season 2.

Before you unlock Ramattra in Season 2, you can read up on his backstory, skills, and potential impact on other heroes in our Ramattra guide. Ramattra, for instance, might render Doomfist obsolete.

All you need to know is that Ramattra will be automatically accessible for play for those who purchase the premium Battle Pass. This tank hero is available at Battle Pass Tier 45 for those who choose not to pay the premium fee. Initially, Tier 55 was required, however, Blizzard lowered the bar just before Season 2.

Overwatch 2 Season 2 Catch-Up Hero Challenges

In Season 2, a brand-new challenge mode will also be available. Older players who failed to unlock earlier heroes like Kiriko in Season 1 or brand-new players who missed their chance can complete catch-up hero tasks.

To learn a hero’s skills, you must first choose the challenges for the one you wish to unlock, which will take you to the practice area. Then, you’ll be forced to defeat particular Overwatch 2 opponents while complying with predetermined rules.

This will enable you to protect any new hero that Overwatch 2 has added. There is a choice to unlock all the new heroes in the in-game shop if that all sounds like too much trouble. Two seasonal events will also be included in Season 2.

With their strategy for the Halloween event earlier in Season 1, Blizzard gave us a brief overview of how they intend to observe these occasions. From this, we can anticipate the launch of a modest PVE game as well as the addition of skins and cosmetics to the store.

From December 13 to January 4, the Winter Wonderland celebration will take place. The Lunar New Year celebration, in contrast, will take place from January 17 to February 1. Thankfully, both of these will include all of the things that the Halloween seasonal event promised, plus more.

This time, Blizzard has promised that you can obtain special skins by beating games and undertaking tasks related to specific events. This features legendary Kkachi Echo, legendary Winged Victory Mercy, and epic Ice Queen Brigitte.

By watching Overwatch 2 streams on Twitch, you can also gain awards and skins. Despite a rocky beginning to these Overwatch League viewing prizes, Blizzard appears to be working on a fix.

New updates and changes to the game have arrived with the start of a new season. Every change will affect how the community accesses and plays Overwatch 2 throughout the upcoming season, though some may be more welcomed than others.

These changes could be changed if they don’t work out; they are not final. The new updates will remain in place for at least the first few weeks of Season 2 regardless of performance and community reception, as these changes can’t happen overnight. Let’s wrap our minds around them with that in mind.

Overwatch 2 Season 2 DPS Update

One significant improvement to the harm heroes’ performance has had an impact on everyone. The main modification to their passive role is this. For those who are unfamiliar with the term “Passive,” it refers to an action that a hero takes without the player needing to intervene.

The temporary boosted movement speed Passive that many DPS heroes could use to engage and leave battles more quickly was removed by Blizzard. The general increase in reloads speed from 25 to 35% has largely offset this.

Bastion has recently gotten several encouraging changes regarding specific damage heroes. The lengthy interval between the initial warning and the final explosions led to the conclusion that their ultimate: Configuration Artillery, was too simple to avoid.

This has been reduced from 1 to 0.6 seconds. However, to prevent the omnic from being powerful, the explosion damage has been decreased from 300 to 250. Additionally, their reconfiguration ability’s cooldown was lowered from 12 to 10 seconds.

Tracer and Symmetra have both been strengthened in terms of buffs. The damage to Tracer’s pulse pistol has increased from 5 to 6. Symmetra’s primary fire has also received improvements at the same time. It now obtains ammunition by shattering barriers once more, speeding up her gameplay.

The much-awaited upgrade, though, belongs to Sojourn. Since her inclusion in Overwatch 2 back in October, she has been the torment of many players’ existence, thus these adjustments are welcome. Many modifications have been made to Her Railgun.

The critical damage multiplier has been decreased from 2 to 1.5, while the secondary fire damage falloff range has been lowered from 70 to 40 meters. However, her ultimate charge rate has increased by 20%, and her primary fire damage per projectile has increased from 9 to 10.

Overwatch 2 Season 2 Tank Update

Doomfist has gotten the most attention in these updates out of all the tanks. His rocket punch’s impact radius has been expanded to do 25–50 damage, and its cooldown has been shortened from 4 to 3 seconds.

Additionally, the duration of his power block ability has been raised from 2 to 2.5 seconds, and the cooldown has been lowered from 8 to 7 seconds. Doomfist has also gained additional health, to finish.

He now has a temporary health of 200 instead of 150, and the amount of health he can gain from defeated foes has gone boosted from 30 to 40. Doom offers a lot more to explore, so be sure to read the specific patch notes (open in a new tab).

The Junker Queen upgrade, in contrast, is much more subdued. The cost of her ultimate has been cut by 10%, and the wound length has been lowered from 5 to 4.5 seconds. While her passive healing ability’s multiplier increased from 1 to 1.25 damage caused by wounds, her commanding shout’s cooldown was decreased from 15 to 14 seconds.

Overwatch 2 Season 2 Support Updates

Following these patch notes, Kiriko has undergone the most dramatic adjustments of all the support characters. She gains a boost in ammunition from 12 to 15, and her protection Suzu ability’s cast time is decreased from 0.15 to 0.1 seconds.

Her Ultimate has been balanced, though. Her Kitsune Rush now costs 10% more to construct, and the movement speed benefit has been reduced from 50% to 30%. Her Ultimate’s cooldown rate has also been decreased from 3 to 2 times faster than usual.

Through their separate updates, Ana and Mercy have grown more combative and hostile. Ana now has additional protection because the sleep dart’s cooldown has been lowered from 15 to 14 seconds. Mercy now has 25 instead of 20 rounds in her blaster, however, switching between doing damage and healing takes only 0.35 seconds instead of 0.5.
