In the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies, they’re bringing back the old-school PhD Flopper, and it seems to function just like it did in the beginning. Plus, in the game’s open-world setting, players can do some cool tricks with this perk, as seen in a quick video clip.
PhD Flopper first showed up in the popular Zombies map Ascension, and fans loved it right away. But its journey was tricky. It starred in Black Ops 1’s DLC maps, then played hard to get in Black Ops 2, making it tricky for players on Die Rise and Mob of the Dead. It took a break but made a comeback as PhD Slider. Even though PhD Slider was good, players missed the fun of dive explosions.
PhD Flopper is an awesome perk in the game. It not only makes you immune to explosive damage but also rewards you for diving on the ground. Suppose you do a special dive off structures like staircases and ledges, and a small nuke explosion happens, killing any zombies below.
Players love jumping off places like the Ascension staircase or using the Black Ops 2 version to cause chaos in Buried. Luckily, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s movement system, including sliding and dolphin diving, PhD Flopper can make a comeback in all its glory.
In the Call of Duty Next event, they talked a lot about Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. They shared gameplay of the open-world mode through content creators during and after the event.
In one part of the footage, a player did something cool with PhD Flopper. They jumped off a big rooftop, and after falling for a while, they landed with a huge explosion that took out some Zombies below.
Even though the explosion style has switched from the usual fiery burst to a blue-ish aetherium blast, it still does the same thing. Fans have been dreaming about using PhD Flopper to jump off tall buildings for a long time.
It was disappointing when the Die Rise map came out more than ten years ago and didn’t let players do that. But now, it looks like fans will get the chance to dive off really huge structures.
We’ll have to wait and see if old favorites like PhD Flopper are enough to grab the attention of longtime Call of Duty Zombies fans. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies has a lot of changes, like more players and a countdown for extraction. Fans will need to give the mode a shot when it comes out in a month to decide if they like it.
