It’s time to spam some links to friends who haven’t gone online in World of Warcraft for years.
Blizzard has long neglected the Recruit A Friend system, but no more—they’ve finally overhauled it in Dragonflight’s Patch 10.0.7. You can expect a fresh set of new rewards and items with the revamped system. Hopefully, more players that regularly farm WoW gold can make memories with their friends by sharing magical adventures across and beyond Azeroth.
According to Blizzard, the latest version of the Recruit A Friend is a way to reward veteran, returning, and new players with benefits to encourage them to play together. Expect the RAF program to retain some of its fan-favorite features while introducing a bounty of new stuff. Now, let’s look at all the rewards and how you can get them.
The RAF Program Has Been Here For A While Now
The Recruit A Friend program has been in World of Warcraft for decades. Blizzard first implemented it in The Burning Crusade expansion, and it’s been redesigned several times. The best way to think about it is that it’s like a Retail WoW system, meaning the benefits and rewards you’ll get won’t be available in the Classic version of the MMO.
That said, it’s still possible for you to recruit a new or returning player that wants to farm WoW gold again and receive the rewards on vanilla WoW since both games share game time and a subscription. If you have a friend that still plays the game regularly on the previous RAF track, you’ll continue to earn the rewards from that track if your friend has an active subscription. But if your friend’s subscription has lapsed for at least a month and they decide to renew it, you’ll collect rewards on a new track.
The Types of Players You Can Recruit
You can recruit friends with the RAF program using the in-game system. Most of the time, the veteran players recruit a new or returning player to come back and play World of Warcraft. Link your account with up to 10 friends to earn rewards such as additional game time, mounts, gear, and more.
Here are the type of players you can expect to see during recruitment:
- Veteran players: Veterans usually refer other players. Their account will often be already playing the game. They ultimately seek the benefits and rewards that come from referring.
- New and Returning players: These players receive the referral. They must have a World of Warcraft account over seven years old and not an active subscription or game time for the past 24 months. While they benefit from the RAF program, they don’t get the rewards.
Blizzard states that you can recruit a maximum of four players every 30 days. When a referral adds game time to their account, you’ll earn progress towards a reward. Of course, the more friends you invite, the faster you’ll receive those goodies. One friend clocking in multiple months of game time is equivalent to having multiple friends having only one month each.
Rewards Available for Dragonflight’s RAF Program
You’ll get rewards each time a friend buys game time for World of Warcraft—whether vanilla or Classic. So, for example, if you have three friends that each buy a month of game time, you can get 30 days of free game time as a reward.
Let’s look at the free stuff you can get from referrals:
Months Needed | Reward | Description |
1 Month | Volatile Self-Driving Toolbox | A companion that looks like a mechanized goblin with legs. Once you’ve unlocked this, it’ll be automatically added to the Pet Journal. |
2 Months | Shredderizing Glove | A cosmetic weapon for your fists. Not recommended for those that have physical touch as their love language. |
3 Months | 30 Days Game Time | You get a month’s worth of free game time. ‘Nuff said. |
4 Months | Sappy Buddy | A robotic cosmetic buddy you can take with you on your adventures. |
5 Months | S.C.A.N.N.E.R. Mk3 | Stands for Scanning Contraption Armed with Nightsight, Neuro-reading, and Encasing Reticle. It’s a pair of fancy glasses for your character. |
6 Months | Rocket Shredder 9001 | A mech mount you can summon at will. It changes depending on your location and Riding skill. |
Once you’ve received your six-month reward, you’ll be rewarded 30 days of free game time every three months your referred friends are subscribed.
The Process of Recruiting
You can recruit a friend by using the RAF Panel that was recently parched into the game. This lets you generate a link you can copy and send to your pals. Your friends will connect in-game as your recruit if they click the link. Thankfully, only a little effort is needed to get free WoW mounts for your account. You can get free stuff by simply passing around links in hopes of gaining a recruit!
