As of 2016, Dishonored 2 is an action-adventure video game for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, created by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It follows up on the original Dishonored from back in 2012. To retake the throne after the witch Delilah Copperspoon has ousted Empress Emily Kaldwin, the player can assume the role of either Kaldwin or her father, Corvo Attano, the Royal Protector.
Emily and Corvo both make use of a variety of magical talents, though the player has the option of disabling them entirely. The nonlinear nature of the game’s mechanics allows you a wide variety of approaches to each objective, from subtlety to outright violence.

Dishonored 2
The decision to give Corvo Attano a voice after having been a silent character in the original game came about during the development of the downloadable material for Dishonored, which in turn sparked ideas for Dishonored 2. By suggesting the game’s young protagonist, Emily Kaldwin, as a playable character, the developers were able to move history forward.
Sculptures and paintings served as inspiration for the game’s visual style. The entire history of the made-up city of Karnaca was made up in just a single year. The city itself took its inspiration from the architecture, dress, and technology of 1851 to create a look and feel that evoked the Mediterranean and Southern European countries like Greece, Italy, and Spain. Rosario Dawson, Sam Rockwell, Robin Lord Taylor, Jamie Hector, Pedro Pascal, and Vincent D’Onofrio are only a few of the voice actors in this film.
The public responded favorably to the release of Dishonored 2. The more difficult stealth, Emily and Corvo’s ability to adapt to both play modes, the art direction, the innovative creation of individual missions, the realization of the game’s universe, the replay value, and the artificial intelligence were all lauded as enhancements over the original game.
The whole narrative was criticized for being too diffuse. Aside from this, technical mistakes and problems with the PC version at the launch were received adversely, and the paucity of content was criticized. The game was patched several times throughout its lifespan to address these issues, with changes like the addition of a New Game Plus mode, quick save and rapid load functionality, and a difficulty slider. While also taking home the trophy for Costume Design at this year’s NAVGTR Awards, Dishonored 2 was named the Best Action/Adventure Game at The Game Awards in 2016.

Gameplay
Dishonored 2 is a first-person action-adventure game that features stealth gameplay. After beginning the game as Empress Emily Kaldwin in the prologue, players can choose to continue the game as either Emily or as Corvo Attano, the protagonist from the prior game, Dishonored. It is possible to complete the primary mission without resorting to violence if you complete the optional side missions.
Both heroes have access to a wide variety of weapons and gadgets, including pistols, crossbows, retractable blades, grenades, and mines. Black market shops dotted around each level sell already-unlocked improvements, while blueprints hidden across the world grant access to upcoming ones.
These enhancements cost coins, which can be acquired by completing stages and completing other collectible tasks, such as stealing paintings. The player has the option of playing stealthily and completing the game without killing anyone. Consumable food and health elixirs restore health, while mana elixirs do the same for mana.
Players can avoid being spotted by their foes by hiding in places that are out of their line of sight, such as behind the cover or on rooftops. The player can better conceal themselves in the night, but only from a certain distance. The player is informed of their detection status via enemy alert meters and musical signals.
It is possible to intentionally lead guards into traps or disrupt their patrol route by making noise, such as breaking bottles or banging a sword against a wall. Players can peek through keyholes to get a better feel for the area before stepping inside, and they can lean from the cover to see around corners without revealing themselves completely. Unlike in Dishonored, the player can be discovered if they peek out from behind a wall for too long.
The player may suffocate or slice the throats of innocent bystanders to avoid being discovered. The dead can be secretly removed and hidden. The player can ensure that their foes are unaware of their presence by turning off alarms. There is a risk that Walls of Light, deadly electrical barriers fueled by wind or whale oil, will have their power cut or be rewired such that only enemies will be killed by passing through them. To defeat foes, hurl whale oil canisters at them, which will cause them to explode on impact.
Choke-holds, blocks, pushes, kicks, crouch-slides, drops from great heights, sleep darts, stun mines, and a variety of supernatural abilities return in Dishonored 2, along with the chaos system introduced in the original game. When the player kills characters, the world becomes more chaotic, symbolizing the player’s destructive influence.
Non-player characters in the game are given one of three states at the beginning of each mission: sympathetic, guilty, or murderous. When a player kills a “sympathetic” character, the resulting pandemonium is greater than when murdering a “murderous” individual. The amount of disorder in the world determines the number of foes in each stage as well as the tone of the conversation between Emily and Corvo.
And since blood flies lay their eggs in human flesh, the death toll is directly proportional to the number of bodies lying around for these insects to colonize. The nests contain valuable loot that can be taken by destroying them. The bloodlines make a similar appeal, advising the player to conceal bodies from them while on missions.
There will be a distinct focus on either narrative or gameplay in each of the game’s stages. In one stage, the player must deal with two opposing groups, each of which has an assassination target; they can take shelter from the relentless dust storms that plague the area. As the player explores a crumbling mansion, time begins to twist. The player is handed a device that allows them to go back and forth in time three years, to when the estate was still inhabited and guards roamed the grounds.
