Helldivers 2 was recently released for PlayStation 5 and PC, and it rapidly became one of the most talked-about things in gaming. Despite some teething problems that slowed the game’s initial reviews on platforms such as Steam, the team’s tenacity in sending hotfixes was undeniable, and the game became PlayStation’s largest PC launch to date.
The CEO of Arrowhead, the game’s developer, announced on Twitter that sales were ‘about a million’, referring to the game’s previous sales exceeding expectations.
Well… We are around a million right now, but yes. The gap is still very large.

Even the game’s flaws appear to be irrelevant, as developers and players all around the world take to social media to share clips and rave reviews of the title. Some gamers are still experiencing matchmaking and network stability concerns, but overall, things are improving.
Hours earlier, Arrowhead’s CEO announced on Twitter that Helldivers 2 had reached ‘about a million’ sales, a stunning milestone after only three days on the market. On Steam, Helldivers 2 is currently the best-selling game, knocking out Palworld, Enshrouded, and Counter-Strike 2.
The CEO, Johan Pilestedt, took a moment to admirably defend Sony when one user said that the company is a selfish corporation’ that only wants 10 million sales from Arrowhead:
Our friends at PlayStation are gamers like you and me. We all just want great games on the market.
Pilestedt stated that Helldivers 2 had reached a CCU of around 220,000 users across PlayStation 5 and PC before the announcement of the milestone.
