How To Get Scarlet and Violet Cinderace: After the Charizard raid event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet completed, Game Freak stated the next Pokémon to be included in the series would be Cinderace.
Due to its rarity, the Galar fire-type starter will be made available in this game exclusively through this raid. A tough encounter is likely if the Charizard raid is any indicator, but given our information, you can begin a good amount of preparation in advance.
What to expect in the Cinderace
At the outset, the first time you can access the Cinderace raid will be from December 30 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time to January 1 at 6:59 p.m. It will be returned on January 15 at 6:59 p.m. Eastern after being out for a week. The window of opportunity may be limited, but you can still beat and catch Cinderace if you plan.
All seven-star raid monsters use Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, so Cinderace will be at level 100 (and everyone you bring on the raid should be as well) and will have a fighting tera type. Keep in mind that Cinderace is a fire-type Pokémon by nature, so whatsoever Pokémon you choose to battle must be able to survive a decisive fire strike.
For instance, Corviknight’s flying movements would be effective against a fighting type, but Corviknight’s steel type would leave it open to Cinderace’s fire moves.
Never forget that in tera raids, you need to bring a Pokémon that isn’t weak to the base typing of the boss, or else you and your team would be easily defeated no matter how powerful your attack is.
Surprisingly, many tactics employed in the last seven-star tera raid against Charizard will work just as well against Cinderace. Cinderace, being a fighting tera, will be vulnerable to the psychic, flying, and fairy-type attacks.
Azumarill and Dachsbun are still viable options to use against Cinderace, as Game Freak has twice in succession featured a fire-type Pokémon that is vulnerable to fairy attacks as the featured Pokémon in a tera raid.
The best Pokémon and moves to bring to the fight for the Cinderace raid
As a result of its water/fairy typing, Azumarill excelled in Charizard raids, as it was immune to the dragon tera type and fire attacks. These typings help it battle Cinderace since it can resist fire strikes and diminish Cinderace’s fighting tera type.
Due to its fairy kind, Dachsbun is protected from and has an increased defense by two stages against fire-type attacks because of its Well-Baked Body ability. Charizard was specialized to do special damage, but Cinderace is a physical threat. Therefore, Charizard might employ a defensive boost against it.
We have no idea what kinds of moves this Pokémon knows, but we can safely assume that most are physical assaults. If Cinderace uses fire-based attacks, Dachsbun’s Well-Baked Body ability will help it deal with the situation.

Dachsbun’s initial physical defense stat is already high, at 115 (which can be raised with targeted EV training). The physical defense stat for Azumarill is 80, which is lower but still very acceptable. Casserole Lake in Paldea’s northwest is the best place to find Azumarills if you do not grow one from an Azurill. In the long run, you’re better off helping an Azurill grow into an evolved form.
Upon starting the game, head to South Province (Area One) and look for the lake leading to Professor Turo/lab; Sada’s is where the baby form can be located.
A few scattered oases of Dachsbun can be found in the Paldea region, including the west desert section of East Province (Area Three), the far southwestern part of the map in South Province (Area Six), and the western desert region of West Province (Area Three) close to the entrance to Area Zero.
On the other Hand, as you head toward the Pokémon Center, you’ll encounter Fidough, which you may raise and evolve into a Dachshund. There are some potential risks when using Azumarill and Dachsbun against Cinderace that weren’t there while using them against Charizard, but it’s still worth a shot.
Azumarill and Dachsbun helped in the previous seven-star raid since Azumarill’s Belly Drum and Play Rough combo could one-shot Charizard. Against Charizard, a dragon tera type, Belly Drum’s effect of halving the user’s HP for a significant physical attack boost and Play Rough’s physical fairy damage resulted in enormous numbers. This tactic may, in principle, help Cinderace, too.
Keeping Azumarill alive long enough to use Play Rough is your primary priority at the outset, so be prepared to use the “Heal up” shout or have a teammate use a Pokémon with a healing ability, like Hatterne, with Heal Pulse.

The physical attack power of a Cinderace is high, but its physical defense is only ordinary. As a result, the combo can potentially deal severe damage, mainly if Dachsbun is used to augment its power with Helping Hand.
However, if your Azumarill isn’t strong enough to defeat Cinderace in a single strike, it might have one last trick up its sleeve: Counter. When the user takes physical damage, this ability kicks in and causes them to deal double the damage they took.
Even if Cinderace manages to dodge Belly Drum, Helping Hand, and Play Rough, Azumarill won’t make it through Counter. This is still an excellent combination but carries more potential danger this time.
Sylveon is a good option for an attacker who can ignore Counter if you’d rather play it safe. It may not have the same high physical defense as Dachsbun or Azumarill, but its powerful special attack will counteract any physical-based reactionary attacks Cinderace may have.
As with other tera raid bosses, Cinderace will periodically reset its stat nerfs; therefore, it is a good idea to use skills like Fake Tears to weaken its special defense and help Sylveon tear chunks out of its health.
Afterward, Sylveon can feel safe letting loose a couple of Moonblasts. With Dachsbun on your side, a Helping Hand will significantly increase your damage.
Cinderace’s Best Psychic Pokémon
Not only does Counter introduce an unexpected element, but so do Iron Head and Gunk Shot, both of which are potential surprises that could derail the plan. Cinderace can’t learn any steel or poison attacks that weaken fairy-type Pokémon in their natural state, so it’s largely lacking in effective moves against them.
It can learn Iron Head and Gunk Shot, though, with the help of TMs; as the dragon in the Charizard raid demonstrated with its knowledge of Focus Blast, these raid monsters have access to every move in a Pokémon’s move set. Psychic attacks are recommended if this is the case.

Though the psychic element isn’t known for its physical defense, you can locate some hefty telepathic’mons to withstand Cinderace’s assaults if you look hard enough. A Slowbro is an excellent first Pokemon because it possesses a physical defense of 110 (base 115) and is immune to the effects of fire and fighting moves.
It also has Amnesia, which it may use to boost its special attack and team-supporting skills like Heal Pulse and Psychic Terrain. All that remains to take advantage of the situation is to hand out a competent Psychic.
Armarouge and Ceruledge are excellent options if you’re unsatisfied with resistances and want to play a Pokémon immune to most of Cinderace’s attacks. During its evolution, you can obtain either the Auspicious Armor or the Malicious Armor on a Charcadet.
Although Charcadet is quite hard to come by, I have had consistent success in catching one by visiting the pit in West Province (Area One) that I have shown on the map below:
Find the pre-evolved form, and then speak with the NPC at the fountain in Zapapico City to trade 10 Bronzor pieces (Scarlet) or 10 Sinister Chips (Violet) for one of these goods. Defeating a Bronzor/Bronzong (common in the ruins of southern Paldea) or a Sinister/Poltergeist (unique to the ruins on the outskirts of Alfornada) will result in the drop of the items, as mentioned earlier.
Once you’ve done that, the NPC will give you either the Auspicious Armor needed to evolve Charcadet into Armarouge or the Malicious Armor required to develop it into Ceruledge.
Both Pokémon are safe from fire-based assault because of their Flash Fire ability. It has the extra benefit of making its fire strikes stronger; however, while being a fighting tera type, Cinderace is not the Pokémon to utilize fire-type moves. Instead, it would help if you tapped into their telepathic potential.

When this is the case, Armarouge has an advantage due to its fire/psychic nature and its access to Psychic and Expanding Force, two of its more valuable attacks. Armarouge has a high special attack stat, to begin with, but with the help of Psychic Terrain and maybe even a couple of Calm Minds, it can unleash its full potential.
While it lacks psychic typing, Ceruledge is wholly protected from Cinderace’s fire attacks and the fighting tera type it uses with Flash Fire and its own fire/ghost typing.
Psycho Cut is also part of the moveset, and it will reduce Cinderace’s tera type’s effectiveness in favor of a more physical one. If you use Swords Dance even once, you’ll realize it can deal significant damage.
Be aware that Armarouge and Ceruledge can only be obtained using Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet. Thus, you may need to trade with someone before the raid if you want any of these Pokémon.
