World of Warcraft Dragonflight: A Significant Decrease in Dungeon Runs is Caused by Dragonlight Season 1

World of Warcraft: Even though World of Warcraft: Dragonflight’s first Mythic Season witnessed an even more significant dip than Shadowlands’, Week 2 of Dragonflight’s expansion was favorably received by its players.

All eyes have now been directed on the Mythic Keystone dungeons after Echo claimed the World First Kill for Mythic Raszageth in the Vault of the Incarnates. Since its introduction in Legion, Mythic+ has established itself as a mainstay in World of Warcraft’s endgame, and its appeal has grown to rival that of standard raids.

The weekly affixes of a Mythic+ dungeon significantly impact the personal pleasure factor for most World of Warcraft players regarding Mythic Keystones. Unfortunately, the affixes Blizzard intended for Dragonflight Season 1 Week 2 have been, to put it mildly, terrible.

Given the power level of the gear they award, Mythic Keystones aren’t designed to be easy, yet taking three hours to complete Ruby Life Pools on higher keys is a common occurrence.

Additionally, having more than 200 deaths isn’t enjoyable for anyone. The data appear to support this, as World of Warcraft dungeon runs in Dragonflight have significantly decreased from Week 1 to Week 2.

World of Warcraft Dragonflight

The graph, produced and shared on the official World of Warcraft subreddit, shows that just 1.8M Mythic+ dungeon runs were made in the week after Week 1’s 3.2M completed Mythic+ dungeons.

Compared to Shadowlands Season 1, the numbers for Dragonflight look lower due to this decline. Even if this is undoubtedly not a cause for alarm, it is crucial to look into what caused the fall.

The bulk of World of Warcraft players would choose to spend a peaceful holiday week with friends and family instead of beating their heads against the ruthless affixes of Week 2 in overtuned dungeons like Ruby Life Pools.

One can’t help but wonder if Blizzard chose the one week where the lack of player interaction was acceptable to push the most complex set of affixes. In any case, the season is still new, and there are still chances for players to advance in Dragonflight toward Keystone Master.

The combination of Fortified, Sanguine, and Volcanic should make things much simpler for healers and Mythic+ groups, so the numbers for Week 3 will have intriguing ramifications for player involvement in World of Warcraft.

Whether the numbers increase or decrease, Blizzard will remain confident in Dragonflight because of the vision for World of Warcraft in 2023 calls for six content patches of various proportions. On the other hand, it might prompt the creators to reconsider some of the more obtrusive affixes, like Grievous.
