The gameplay of the Callisto Protocol has finally been revealed, along with a December 2, 2022, release date. Creator of Dead Space, Glen Schofield, founded Striking Distance Studios, which is working on a third-person survival horror game. “I’m excited to be returning to my roots with an all-new take on the sci-fi survival horror genre,” Schofield wrote in a PlayStation Blog post.
Throughout its futuristic setting on Jupiter’s moon, there are terrifying monsters and zombie-like creatures. A “mysterious outbreak” is mutating people into Biophages on the moon, and you take on the role of Jacob Lee, voiced by Josh Duhamel.
It is Schofield’s belief that “horror starts with atmosphere,” and that the PS5’s 3D audio and lighting have been given special attention. The Dualsense controller’s haptics will also be utilized in the Callisto Protocol, from heavy enemy footsteps to the swinging of your weapon.
The combat system, according to the blog post, “forces players to get up close and personal with our horrifying creatures.” It’s also possible to mix ranged and melee combat with the GRP, a gravity-based weapon that lets you use terrain as a defensive tool or freeze your enemies in place.
Although the Callisto Protocol was originally meant to be set in the same universe as PUBG, it has since been revealed that this is no longer the case. For more such updates do follow us only on gameempress.com
