Capcom revealed that it would soon offer an open beta for users to download and try out the game before release as Street Fighter 6’s release date approaches. Street Fighter 6’s second closed beta test, which incorporated many features well-received by gamers compared to its predecessors, ended months before the announcement.
Players are anticipating Street Fighter 6, the newest installment in Capcom’s venerable fighting game series, hoping it will improve upon its critically panned predecessor, Street Fighter 5.
Before the game’s launch, Capcom made Street Fighter 6’s single-player demo free for PS4 and PS5 users. Street Fighter 6 has much riding on it to succeed where Street Fighter 5 failed, with different control schemes, enhanced graphics and aesthetics, and many customizability choices. More players will soon be able to try it out.
Street Fighter 6’s open beta will start on May 19 at 7:00 UTC and run through May 22 at 7:00 UTC. Thus, the open beta will only be accessible for a short period—72 hours. Interested players may download the open beta in advance on Tuesday, May 16, at 7:00 UTC.

Unlike the game’s first two closed beta tests, the Street Fighter 6 open beta will feature cross-play for PS5, Xbox, and Steam gamers to compete against one another. PS4 users will have to wait until the game’s official release because the open beta will not be available.
The character creation, battle hub, and the identical eight fighters from the second closed test will all be included in the open beta. These fighters include newcomer Luke, prominently displayed on the game’s cover, and Ryu, a longtime fan favorite.

Additionally, 25 GB of storage space will be needed for the Street Fighter 6 open beta. Comparatively, 42 GB was required for the second closed beta test.
Players will need to make sure they can play on the platform they desire and link their Capcom ID to that system because the complete release of Street Fighter 6 will be 60 GB once pre-downloads are accessible later this month.
