Street Fighter 6 will have a comprehensive post-release content plan similar to its predecessor’s. Even though we knew there would be downloadable material, we now have a much clearer understanding of the pace at which the new characters will be introduced.
During Street Fighter 6 Showcase webcast, executive producer Shuhei Matsumoto noted, “A big part of Street Fighter’s charm is the cast of characters from around the world that appear in each game.”
“We believe that Street Fighter is where players can take control of unique characters with their own awesome fighting styles. For the players – and for us as well – the appeal of the characters themselves is the most important element of the series. With Street Fighter 6, we’re continuing development to deliver new characters to you every year.”
Four new characters will be added to the Street Fighter 6 roster during Year 1, which begins when the game is released. The characters that will be made available during this first year of content are Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma.
In the summer of 2023, Rashid makes his debut. He first appeared in Street Fighter V’s base edition. In the fall of 2023, a brand-new character named A.K.I. will debut. Early in 2024, Ed makes his debut. He was first playable in Street Fighter V, albeit he debuted in Street Fighter IV.

Street Fighter 6 will include Akuma, the Great Demon who debuted in Super Street Fighter II Turbo in the spring of 2024. Players will learn more about these characters’ past in World Tour, the single-player RPG-inspired story mode.

The Year 1 characters are included if you purchase the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions. Street Fighter 6 debuts on June 2 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PC.
