Sea of Thieves, a game where you pretend to be a pirate on the open seas, has only been available on Xbox. But now, because it’s working with Disney, some people who play games on PlayStation think they might get to play it too.
The game was made by a company called Rare and came out in 2018, and Microsoft helps put it out there for people to play. The newest part of the game called “Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life” has made a lot of people even more interested in the game, which was already doing well.
Even though it used to only be available on certain gaming systems, players who use PlayStation probably wish they could now play it on other consoles because of this big update.

Sadly, you can’t play Sea of Thieves on a PlayStation 4. Currently, the game is only available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. If you have a PlayStation, you can’t join the adventure combining Pirates of the Caribbean with Sea of Thieves.
This teamwork might have given Disney a new opportunity. But, the competition between Xbox and PlayStation to have exclusive games is still strong. Microsoft knows that Sony wants the game on their game systems.
Sony wants players to be able to display their cool outfits when they play with others on different systems. Microsoft is not very willing to let Sony have what they want.
Why Sea of Thieves May Never Come to PlayStation?
The main problem is that the company making the game is Rare, owned by Xbox Game Studios. Even if Rare somehow decides to leave, which is unlikely, the game was made so that only Xbox can have it.
It’s sad because there are many hidden things in the game that players haven’t found yet, and having more players could help the game Sea of Thieves. It could happen, but people aren’t discussing it as something that might happen, at least not openly.
Is Sea of Thieves Cross Platform?
This game lets people on PC and Xbox One play together, even using different versions like Windows 10, Steam on PC, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X. You can play with anyone, no matter their device.
This is especially good for new gamers on Xbox or PC because they can easily connect with friends and family, even on different devices. And if you have a lobby where anyone can join, it doesn’t matter what device they’re using – everyone can still play together.
