The question, “what the hell do I have to do to get some lovin’ around here?” may be on the minds of Fire Emblem Engage players now the game is available to the general public. It’s easy to miss the event that allows your toothpaste-haired champion to hook up with one of the homies if you’re not fighting every battle and if you’re used to other Fire Emblem systems.
Hey, I’m just trying to be of service. A common misconception among players who have played previous Fire Emblem games is that if you raise a character’s support level to “S,” you’ll unlock the romance option with them in Engage.
However, the lack of an “S” rating may mislead players into thinking that “romancing” another player is impossible in the game. It does, although in a slightly unconventional manner.
For example, the ability to “romance” a companion isn’t available until late in the game. The event that sets off the trigger occurs in a paralogue that unlocks after the late-game plot twist that turns Alear into an Emblem.
As you progress through the game and gather all 12 rings, you’ll discover that certain paralogues will only become available when you’ve fought against your Emblems to reach their maximum bond level.

Even though you won’t be engaging in combat with Alear, finishing their paralogue will get you a pact ring, which you can then present to any buddy of rank “A” to enable you to “romance” them.
It’s not precisely a romance, either. Some of Alear’s “bonds” with characters will be romantic, while others will be spiritual.

Although a male Alear might form a friendship with one of the spiritual choices, such as substantial daddy hiccups Vander, you’ll have to rely on your headcanon to perform the hard lifting in terms of romance.
Despite my undying love for Claude from Fire Emblem, I pursued a romantic relationship with the dancer Seadall because he was the cutest person I was at the highest level with.
The recipient of the pact ring will leave a wonderful keepsake for you on Alear’s desk once the agreement has been completed. A scarf was my gift. The scarf is a staple in Seadall’s wardrobe.
