The patch notes for Season 9 of Overwatch 2 have purportedly leaked, and if confirmed, the hero shooter will undergo significant changes. Overwatch 2 is ready for some balancing changes, and the most recent leak appears to indicate that those changes, as well as others, will be available when the next season is released.
Overwatch 2’s newest hero, Mauga, is making headlines for his strong abilities. In reality, some gamers are leaving Overwatch 2 because of Mauga.
While the new tank is likely the most flagrant offender in terms of uneven gameplay right now, Overwatch 2 gamers have long pleaded with Blizzard to make significant changes. Fortunately, the current leak appears to provide just that.

Rupal, an Overwatch 2 professional, just leaked the Season 9 patch notes on stream. The claimed modifications include health boosts for all characters as well as projectile radius enhancements for a few. Even Mauga’s health is improving.
This also corresponds with a previous Overwatch 2 Season 9 Tracer leak, which stated that the DPS hero would receive an HP boost. Furthermore, the cost of ultimates is being increased by 10%.
Not to mention that dealing damage reduces healing, and reload speed advantages will no longer be available after eliminations.
Essentially, it appears that Overwatch 2 characters will be a little more robust on the battlefield. DPS heroes will receive fewer perks, while all characters’ health will increase by about 15% to 20%. Not to add, the increased cost of ultimates will make these devastating assaults less common.
Until the Overwatch 2 team makes official statements, these leaks are subject to change and should be treated with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, the leaks confirm previous predictions that Overwatch 2 will make significant tank and damage improvements in Season 9. Whatever the final product is, Season 9 is likely to bring about significant changes.
Overwatch 2’s game director, Aaron Keller, has taken to social media to outline some of the changes coming next season, including a self-healing passive for all positions.
The revelation was not warmly received by everyone in the community, and the Overwatch 2 developer even apologized for disclosing some of the facts, which may have been taken out of context. Keller noted that this one modification is part of a wider makeover coming in Season 9, which appears to be consistent with the latest leaks.

Global Projectile Size Changes
- Most damage-dealing projectile sizes have been increased, allowing all heroes to hit their targets more easily
- Hitscan weapons with a high spread and rate of fire, such as Soldier 76’s Pulse Rifle, have been increased by 0.05
- Average hitscan weapons and abilities, such as Cassidy’s Peacemaker, have been increased by 0.08
- Travel-time projectile weapons that are shotguns, such as Roadhog’s scrap gun, or have a high rate of fire, such as Ramattra’s Void Accelerator, have been increased by 0.05
- Travel-time projectiles that travel slower than 50 meters per second, such as Pharah’s Rocket Launcher, are increased by 0.15
- Travel-time projectiles that travel 50 meters per second or more, such as Hanzo’s Storm Bow, are increased by 0.1
