Microsoft Xbox Streaming Console On Hold Cos Of High Costs: Project Keystone, Microsoft’s streaming-only Xbox system, was shelved because its production cost was too high. Xbox CEO Phil Spencer claimed in an interview with The Verge (which was picked up by VGC) that Microsoft was unable to produce a streaming-only system that could be sold for a reasonable price.
Even though Microsoft loses money on every console it sells, Spencer had wanted to offer Project Keystone for between $99 and $129, but the streaming-only device ended up being too expensive.
