EA Sports gave us our first look at Madden NFL 24 in action and revealed that the Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen would be the game’s cover player. EA has opened the curtain even more, today, offering fans a detailed look at this year’s gameplay.
Some of these features in Madden NFL 24 can potentially change how you play, at least if you’re using a next-generation console or computer, as we explained in our hands-on preview.
That’s the aspect of this deep dive that deserves the most attention. You won’t have access to FieldSense, Sapien technology, or all the associated advantages using an Xbox One or a PlayStation 4.
The upgrades won’t just be a roster update, but they will be more constrained. In a few significant aspects, most notably in how the team is managing fundamental football, FieldSense can advance the game as a simulation of football.
Run blocking appears to have significantly improved since the preview, and this in-depth analysis explains why by going over how AI blockers better match up with defenders before the snap and how the Hit Everything system has been used to make things like chip blocks and double teams more realistic.

Everything has also been expanded to offer additional variation in pass break-ups, disputed catching, and general tackling. More than 1,700 new tackle animations have been introduced to Madden NFL 24, which should make every hit seem a little more authentic.
Since you won’t see tackle spirits as frequently, the more they can add to the game, the less like pre-made animations they will feel. Additionally, they’ve improved the throwing system to enable QBs to execute Jump and Dive passes.
They also changed route running to filter out the slow-down and speed-up we previously witnessed. The fear is that something that infrequently happens in real life will happen frequently, but perhaps EA can strike the correct balance between those throw kinds.

The new Sapien skeletal technology is the last significant modification described in the deep dive. For Madden NFL 24, EA completely redesigned its skeletons, which will be used in all its games.
Given that we haven’t had new structures in a while, this will make animations look more fluid, enhancing Madden in ways you might not immediately realize.
Madden NFL 24 will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms starting August 18.
