Elden Ring’s lantern allows you to abandon the torch and free up your hand for another weapon or a shield. Elden Ring is the first FromSoftware game to have a day-and-night cycle, and if you spend enough time in the open world, you’ll notice the day turning to midday and then tonight.
Things could grow very gloomy in some regions of the planet. This is especially true of the game’s tunnels and dungeons, many of which lack light, making them ideal for ambushes. The few light sources you come across, like campfires, might be destroyed, leaving you to fend for yourself in the dark.
Of course, you could always bring out a torch, but it means freeing up one hand that would otherwise be holding a shield/weapon. However, there is a more beautiful, low-maintenance solution to this darkness: a lantern.
Lantern Elden Ring
FromSoftware has mercy on us and provided a technique to light up the numerous astonishingly gloomy interiors of those tunnels and dungeons. Elden Ring comes with a lamp that may be attached to your Pouch.

The lantern can be turned on and off with the click of a button, and it illuminates your surroundings as well as a torch does, with the bonus of freeing up your hands to handle a weapon/shield.
A wandering merchant sells the light for 1,800 Runes. The merchant is located in Liurnia East, just adjacent to the Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace. This region is located north of Limgrave and is ordinarily accessible after fighting Godrick and passing through Stormveil Castle.
You can, however, avoid the fortress totally and still get to Liurnia. Begin at the Stormhill Shack Site of Grace and travel north on the road. Ignore the fork in the street and continue north, following the dirt track under the massive bridge. You’ll eventually arrive at a wrecked bridge, where the ancient finger reader is.
When you approach the edge, turn left to find a trail that will take you down and then back up to the other location. Then, it’s just a matter of following a long track on the mountain’s side. You’ll arrive at the Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace at the end of it—head north-west from there to reach Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace and the merchant.
If you are unable to reach it for whatever reason, several of the other merchants you encounter will also sell the same lantern. Check out our map above for a comprehensive path to the one near Liurnia Lake Shore.
Place the light in your Pouch, and it will sit on your waist until you remove it. Bring up the pause menu and enable it when you enter a dark location. It uses no resources, so feel free to leave it on if you like; keep in mind that it will switch off when you die and must be put back on.
