Evil West: Managing the mobs that spawned while I was fighting the enormous winged Highborn creature was an adrenaline-pumping experience. Some kickass music also added to the intensity of the situation. Controlling the arena, rolling out of the way, and managing the mobs that spawned during the fight also added to the intensity. Based on the limited time I’ve spent with the game, one of Evil West’s most impressive features is how snappy the controls are.
“The small demo time I got with #EvilWest left me thirsty for more Old West vampire hunting.”
Worry not @IGN, there will be plenty of vampires to hunt down😉

Evil West
The punches have a meaty and devastating feel, and it’s gratifying to witness pieces of your opponents’ bodies fall off as you land hit after hit. It’s almost as exciting to watch as it is to deliver the blows. Your gun can be manually aimed or fired from the hip, but the game makes heavy use of auto-aim and even has a snap-lock system that enables you to automatically target enemies at the appropriate moment to obliterate their limbs and leave them stunned. You have the option to manually aim your gun or fire it from the hip.
The more I progressed through the demo and gained a better understanding of the battle system, the more I realized that moving between these two ways of attack and building a rhythm gave me a tremendous deal of satisfaction. This rhythm is distinct from the one you encounter during boss fights when you are tasked with controlling a horde of monsters with a savage appearance or western gunfighters.
Therefore, rather than concentrating all of my attention on a single adversary, I would dodge and dart amongst my foes, attempting to score hits anywhere I could or blasting bullets in a particular direction before closing the distance for a finishing blow.
All of these intricate battle routines take place on a level where blood spatters the ground, body pieces fly through the air as foes are shattered, and bright orange fire rages from TNT stockpiles that are blown up by the player. The over-the-top effects and explosions complement the over-the-top chaotic nature of its battle, generating a tremendous sense of synergy and vision between the different aspects of the game as a whole. It is a true spectacle.
The thirty minutes I spent playing Evil West were, without a doubt, the most pleasurable I spent during Gamescom, and all I want now is more of it. If playing the game for just thirty minutes can make me feel this way, I can’t even begin to imagine what the complete experience will be like for me.
Final Words
It was a thrilling experience to deal with mobs that erupted while I was fighting the huge-winged Highborn beast. In addition, there was some great music playing that added to the moment’s drama. Keeping the arena under control, avoiding missiles, and dealing with newly spawned foes all made for a more challenging fight. After only a short time with Evil West, I can already say that the responsiveness of the controls is one of my favorite features. This article concludes with information regarding Evil West.
