Elder Scroll 6 Pre-Production: While it may be some time until we see Elder Scrolls 6, it’s certain that it’s one of the most anticipated titles from Bethesda. The title for Elder Scrolls 6 was first shown off in a short teaser video released in 2018, suggesting that development on the game is still in its early stages.
The studio has been very active recently. Bethesda is presently working on Starfield, its first new intellectual property in 25 years, with a 2023 release date in mind. However, we also know that the company has plans for Fallout 5, which Todd Howard has stated is coming after Elder Scrolls 6.
“Yes, Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while.” – Starfield director Todd Howard | https://t.co/n9RhsJVvql pic.twitter.com/NrQVwYT5a0

Read on to learn everything we know about Elder Scrolls 6 so far while we wait for further updates and news.
The development of Elder Scrolls 6 has not yet begun.
A Bethesda HR Linkedin profile leaked in January 2022, suggesting that Elder Scrolls 6 was still in pre-production; Howard confirmed this in June of that year. According to the profile, development on the new Elder Scrolls game has not yet begun at the studio.
It’s hardly shocking as the studio’s next project, Starfield, won’t be out until 2023. Especially considering Todd Howard’s recent comments suggesting that we might not see Elder Scrolls 6 until 2026.
Followers see this Tweet as a promise that the next Elder Scrolls game will be set in Hammerfell. Fans were quick to notice that the location of the candles on the image, shared on the official Elder Scrolls Twitter account’s New Year’s message depicting a map of Skyrim with the words “transcribe the past and plan the future,” may include a hint.
One rests on the region of Skyrim itself, another rests on a book that is holding the map in place, and a third rest beyond the southwest border of Skyrim, near the label for Hammerfell. It has been on everyone’s mind ever since the teaser clip appeared to match up with some geographical characteristics of Hammerfell, as this is the Redguards’ homeland.
The Elder Scrolls Vi Will Be Available Exclusively On The Xbox One.
The Elder Scrolls 6 is trending toward being an Xbox One exclusive. Starfield was revealed as an Xbox and PC exclusive at E3 2021, therefore it seems likely that Elder Scrolls 6 will take the same route. Although, Todd Howard has stated that “it’s hard to conceive” not bringing The Elder Scrolls 6 to various platforms.
At the Jefferies Interactive Entertainment conference, Microsoft made it plain that it plans to “definitely” acquire more companies in order to ensure that its platform has access to the “first or greatest” games in their respective genres.
Microsoft’s Chief Financial Officer Tim Stuart addressed rumors that Elder Scrolls 6 might be an Xbox One exclusive. Spencer has stated that while the company has no plans to withdraw all of Bethesda’s content from Sony, Nintendo, or any other platform, they do want it to be the first, the best, or the most distinctive experience on their own.
Phil Spencer said in the announcement that Bethesda was an “early supporter of Xbox Game Pass,” bringing their games to new audiences across devices, and actively investing in new gaming technology like cloud streaming, “just as they took the bold first steps to bring The Elder Scrolls franchise to the original Xbox.”
PlayStation 5 customers will have to pay full price for Elder Scrolls 6, even if it is not a PC and Xbox Series X exclusive because the game will likely be available on Xbox Game Pass.
For The Time Being, All We Have Is A Teaser Trailer For Elder Scrolls 6
This E3 2018 trailer from Bethesda is all the information we have. Everyone was pumped up when they saw the title, and they still are now, but unfortunately, we haven’t gotten much more since then.
While there isn’t a lot of official information about Elder Scrolls 6, the speculation is abundant. Todd Howard has provided us with some new information regarding Elder Scrolls 6. For example, Howard told IGN that fans will understand the delay in terms of technology and what they want the game to do once they see it:
“The one thing [the delay between Skyrim and Elder Scrolls 6’s release] does is people are still playing Skyrim, it’s still one of the best-selling games. I know people joke about it online, but it’s true.”
This means that any features Elder Scrolls 6 introduces in terms of gameplay will be there for the long haul, just like Skyrim was. Increasing emphasis on replayability may lead to minor decisions at the outset having far-reaching effects on the game’s overall narrative structure.
Based on Howard’s comment on the technology and “what [Bethesda] wants it to achieve,” it appears that the devs are working on completely new gameplay mechanics to make Elder Scrolls 6 completely different from any other game in the series.
Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production still so we are looking at probably 3-5 years before it releases. Makes me wonder why we saw that teaser trailer so long ago 😂

Bethesda filed to trademark the term “Redfall” on September 10, 2018, setting off much speculation online regarding the possible title of Elder Scrolls 6. Sure, I counted among them. Reddit users have speculated that the name Redfall could refer to a plague afflicting Tamriel in Elder Scrolls 6, placing you smack dab in the thick of the action.
Followers of Peryite (the Daedric Prince of pestilence, natural order, and chores) have been stricken with a disease that manifests primarily as boils. Some have speculated that the ‘Red’ in the trademark may be connected to the disease mentioned by the blotchy red-skinned, poison-puking adherents of Peryite in the quest for The Only Cure. In High Rock, one of the kingdoms is called Daggerfall, which may be connected to the ‘-fall’ element of the title. This is purely conjectured at this time, but it’s a good one.
