In 2023, if Diablo 4 is as excellent as it seems, it may be able to compete with Hogwarts Legacy sales. Even if Blizzard still seems to be on fire internally, with employees and management arguing all under the shadow of the imminent Microsoft merger, the release date is still set for June 6.
But, Diablo 4 stands out as the best game in Blizzard’s lineup right now (sorry, Overwatch 2), and we can try it out in beta form before its release. There will be a closed beta for those who pre-order and subsequently an open beta for everyone. Newly announced beta launch dates are as follows:
- Early Access: March 17-19
- Open Beta: March 24-26

To participate in the Early Access beta, a full pre-purchase of the game is required. As soon as you do, head over to the Blizzard website to learn how to enter:
- To access the beta, visit diablo.com/beta and sign in with your existing Battle.net account or register for a new one.
- Choose your game system and region (if applicable) from the drop-down menus, then enter your code.
- Before you hit the Redeem button, double-check your choices.
- Once your code has been validated and claimed to your account, a success page will appear.
- If you play on a PC, your profile will be marked for instant access.
- Players on consoles will get a platform-specific code to download the Beta via the email address linked to their Battle.net account prior to the commencement of Early Access.
The Open Beta is, well, an open beta; there’s no special code needed to participate; all you have to do is sign up, download the beta, and start playing.
What can we expect from the Diablo 4 beta? That would be the beginning of the game and all of the events in Act 1. The beta has full access to the Fractured Peaks zone. In the beta, your character’s level cap is set at 25. I can’t say for sure if all courses are open to everyone or just a select few.
Or if your character’s progress would be preserved, but considering how much will probably change between the beta (including from some feedback there) and the release four months later, my guess is no.
There’s still a chance that Diablo 4 won’t come out on June 6th, and I’m not ruling that out. Blizzard has a lot riding on this, and they definitely don’t want another botched launch like the one that occurred with Diablo 3 Error 37.

I know that this is partly the goal of the beta, but I wanted to point out that games of this scale often experience significant delays. The release of Diablo 4 has been postponed before, but what happens now remains to be seen. Whatever the case may be, I can’t wait to get started.
