This past weekend, during the ongoing open beta, Diablo 4 players got their first taste of the game, though as some may have predicted, there were long wait times and error messages.

Blizzard made it clear that would be the case prior to the beta’s launch with a list of known issues that specifically mentioned those types of issues and an assurance that the Diablo team would be investigating the problems.

A follow-up message about these kinds of problems was sent out on Saturday, and it gave more information on what was being done and said that players should now have much easier access to the beta.

Adam Fletcher, the community manager for Diablo 4, posted a follow-up update to the one from late Friday night in the Blizzard forums. In this one, Fletcher claimed that a number of hotfixes were pushed on Friday to fix issues.

Adam Fletcher shares a tweet about a new update:

A new update posted here.

We had some server hotfixes last night and addressed some of the major queue times.

Biggest thing we are tackling right now is some issues with console users who can't progress through a queue. https://t.co/tS0i9jQ1Rp

“Last night, the team pushed a few backend server hotfixes to address server stability and issues related to player parties that we reported on yesterday evening,” Fletcher said. “This has led to significantly improved queue times, so players should be experiencing much shorter waits to get into the game.”

Those playing on the Xbox and PlayStation platforms reported specific queue issues that seemed to be affecting them in particular, in addition to generally long wait times when the beta first launched on Friday. Blizzard is aware of this as well and is addressing the console issue.

“As of this morning, we are tracking a new issue related to some console players unable to get through queues,” Fletcher said. “We are also continuing some work on a few of the issues from last night and this morning that are affecting a small number of users.”

After unsuccessfully attempting to enter the Diablo 4 beta on more than one occasion on Saturday (on PC), it appears that some queue issues have been fixed, as entering the beta today was much simpler than it was on Friday when players would frequently have to wait for more than an hour.

Even though queue times frequently moved more quickly than expected, today’s queue speeds are encouraging for the remainder of this weekend’s beta testing as well as the beta testing that will take place the following weekend in a few days.
