Bungie has confirmed that the upcoming Lightfall DLC for Destiny 2 will recycle the weapon geometry from the Shadowkeep add-on.
The major annual expansion packs for the second game haven’t typically used the strategy of reusing old assets and making them fresh again, in contrast to the first game’s constant use of this tactic for new content launches.
The topic of retiring and rereleasing older weapons has been hotly debated in many different Destiny 2 communities for quite some time.
Some players appreciate the opportunity to work toward better versions of previously obtained items, while others would instead focus solely on brand-new gear. These debates appear to be about to be reignited by the Lightfall DLC.
A few keen fans may have noticed certain recognizable weapons in the promotional materials for the Lightfall DLC, and the new Destiny 2 Lightfall Exotics video made it clear that this wasn’t an oversight.
In particular, after the trailer was released, Bungie added high-resolution renders and screenshots to the expansion pack’s promotional page, one of which displayed some of the new weaponry, albeit not everyone would agree that they were “new.”
The shown Lightfall sniper, fusion, pulse rifle, hand cannon, and heavy grenade launcher all have the same basic geometry as the republished Shadowkeep weapons in Destiny 2.

The main distinction between the two sets of equipment is that Eris Morn connected various trinkets, amulets, and dried fruit to the Shadowkeep goods to protect the wearer from Darkness Nightmares.
By contrast, Lightfall goods are glossy and modern, like Neomuna itself. To be fair, this viewpoint is not entirely without merit.
Even though the history of humanity’s Golden Age remains one of Destiny 2’s biggest mysteries, it is a well-established truth that pre-collapse technology was frequently considerably superior to anything the Destiny 2 Vanguard can supply to present Guardians.

Since Golden Age technology was used to create Neomuna, and Eris Morn plundered Luna’s previous Golden Age facilities, it stands to reason that some or all of the weapons in the game would also be available in real life.
However, this method will not appeal to all people. Some players are bound to view the Lightfall gear as merely Bungie reissuing old material after giving it a fresh coat of paint, even though Lightfall is a large Destiny 2 DLC scheduled to bring about massive improvements to practically every area of the game.
It remains to be seen if Bungie’s strategy for Lightfall weaponry will be successful in practice. Launched simultaneously for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X Destiny 2 is now available.
