DayZ, a multiplayer-only survival video game created and distributed by Bohemia Interactive, has been available for several years. It debuted in 2013, yet even in 2023, it continues to captivate fans, thanks in large part to the game’s regular release of new content.
Small adjustments, revisions, and content additions accompany each new version, which is typically released every couple of months following a period of testing on the test servers.
On this page, we’ll take a look at the game’s next large patch, Update 1.24, which is presently available for testing on experimental servers. Read on to learn all you need to know about the forthcoming update, including its likely release date, new features, and much more.

However, we may make an educated approximation based on historical release timetables (see below). This leads us to anticipate that the 1.24 upgrade will be released in the middle of February 2024. If we were to bet on it, we’d say the update will be available on February 13, 2024.
We’re quite positive that this next version will be launched in February, as devs often release their first update of the year in February.
Of course, we may have to wait longer, especially since the average number of days between DayZ updates (starting in 2020) is around 150.
What has changed in the DayZ 1.24 Update?
The current experimental version of the game represents a comprehensive cleaning by the creators. Taking a closer look, they’ve improved the collision geometry of vegetation, notably trees, and shrubs, to address concerns about vehicle collisions and particle performance when bullets travel through branches.
In terms of gunplay, firearm particles have been adjusted for a more fluid feel. Some automatic rifles now have somewhat increased recoil, and a noteworthy change is the unified approach to randomly spawning weaponry, which cannot be distinguished from player-dropped ones.
Weapon handling enhancements have also been included, which improves the overall experience of close-quarter combat. Notably, the engineers worked to make weapon lifting smoother and more exact, as well as enhance weapon length computations.
Although more extensive improvements to the infected AI are on hold, the devs have made adjustments to lessen bullet impact sounds, making it more difficult for the infected to be lured to fire bullets.
Additionally, blunt melee weapons now deliver more damage to diseased and animal AI by including shock damage.
Bandaging has seen significant improvement in terms of survival methods. Players with various bleed sources can now bandage without interruption if their bandage stack has enough uses.
This upgrade offers an enhanced gameplay experience, including a refined and engaging journey in the experimental branch.
