After spending roughly 50 hours with the game, I felt inspired to write a primer for newcomers, outlining some of the fundamental ideas and basic techniques of battle. If you want your first experience with Darktide to be positive and relaxing, I recommend giving it a try.
Anyone who has played the recently released Warhammer 40,000: Darktide pre-order beta knows how frustrating it can be to grind for better weapons and curios by camping at the in-game store and waiting for something excellent to unexpectedly arrive.
The good news is that the beta Update 1.0.8 released earlier today introduced a system for creating and upgrading weapons, which should solve the issue.

Hadron’s Workshop can be used once you’ve unlocked it, but you’ll need to gather supplies from around the levels first. These are located in the same places as consumables and are shared among all members of the team, so even the least observant player should be able to piece together the weapon of their dreams at some point.

Unfortunately, there is a small catch. Unfortunately, the crafting supplies are not transferable between any of your characters and instead belong solely to the one that acquired them.
This means that once you’ve settled on a loadout you like, switching to another class will require you to essentially start from square one. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case with Vermintide 2, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that a few patches won’t let it happen with Darktide either.
The game’s in-game store now features a wide selection of new character and weapon skins, so there’s that! These look to be recolors of skins already accessible through achievements, which is fair given how simple it is to unlock them through normal gameplay.
