Blizzard Is Attempting To Make Overwatch 2 Evolution: The controversial change from a premium game to a free-to-play download funded by Grindy battle passes has been one of the most talked-about aspects of Overwatch 2. Now, Blizzard says it plans to solve those issues by balancing the game’s progression in future seasons so that players feel “better rewarded merely for sitting down and playing.”

Blizzard Is Attempting To Make Overwatch 2 Evolution
“We’re planning a variety of modifications to the Battle Pass, new and fascinating Challenges to pursue, and new and engaging play-focused advancement systems for you to explore in Season 3 and beyond.
In an update, newly appointed executive producer Jared Neuss said, “We’ll be able to talk about some of these changes shortly, while other adjustments may need more time to lock in.”

Meanwhile, each new dedicated event in Season 2, which begins on December 6 and adds Ramattra, will provide a new skin that can be acquired simply by playing. There will also be a continuation of the popular Twitch drops system, which allows players to unlock new skins by watching their preferred Overwatch 2 streams.
I doubt this would quickly appease the game’s harshest critics, but it does show some recognition that things can’t continue as they have been.
Players have been complaining about the new heroes being behind the paid battle pass, how long it takes to level up, and how expensive all the skins are since the game began. Since things are the way they are, some players have even started to miss the loot boxes from the beginning of the game.
Broken characters, patch delays, and unexpected issues like the one that prevented certain players from advancing in ranked play have all contributed to this situation.
Blizzard is currently working on a system that will give support players additional experience points in an effort to encourage them to play that role and reduce queue times. Overwatch 2 is also rewarding players that join in at specific times this week with highlight intros for Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko.

Since the alternative was a “poor experience,” Blizzard has enabled crossplay to aim to help console players in all game modes aside from the competition.

Thank you to “players who have persevered with us, players who have returned, and players who are just now participating in the fun,” as Neuss put it in today’s post. I believe we can continue to flourish as a group if we are more candid about our innermost thoughts and feelings.
