In the near future, Larian Studios will release Baldur’s Gate III, an RPG in the Baldur’s Gate series. The third main installment in the Baldur’s Gate series is based on the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop RPG system.
Released as early access on Windows, macOS, and the Stadia streaming service on October 6, 2020, this version of the game is incomplete. While the Stadia version has been scrapped due to the shutdown of the service, a port for the Xbox Series X/S is still in development.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Release Date
It is anticipated that the game would stay in early access until August of 2023. Because of the shutdown of Stadia on January 18, 2023, the final release of the full version has been scrapped. Baldur’s Gate III’s full release date of August 31, 2023, for macOS, Windows, and PlayStation 5 was revealed on February 23, 2023.
Larian also revealed that an Xbox Series X and Series S port was in production, but they chose not to release it due to technical difficulties with the split-screen co-op. Larian stated that the game is not PlayStation-exclusive and could see a simultaneous release on Xbox if the bugs are resolved.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Gameplay
In addition to its single-player campaign, Baldur’s Gate 3 also features a robust cooperative multiplayer mode. The game’s story can be experienced by forming a group of player-created and AI-controlled characters.
Players will have the option of taking one of their characters online and joining forces with other players to form a party. Baldur’s Gate III is the first game in the series to feature turn-based combat, comparable to Larian’s Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II but using the D&D 5th Edition ruleset instead.

The forces of evil are on the upswing in the year 1492 DR, more than 120 years after the events of Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn and just a few months after the events of Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus. When the mind flayers invade Faerûn, they capture the player character (whom the player names).
They’ve parasitically implanted the protagonist and a slew of other creatures with illithid tadpoles, which can turn them into mind flayers. The conflict results in the protagonist’s liberation, and he or she pilots the crippled spacecraft back to Faerûn, where it ultimately crashes. The protagonist meets human wizard Gale, half-elf cleric Shadowheart, high elf vampire rogue Astarion, human warlock Wyll, and githyanki fighter Lae’zel as they look for a solution to get rid of their parasite.
