Assassin’s Creed Red is going to do something we’ve wanted Ubisoft to do since 2007: allow us to travel around Japan as an assassin. That’s what Project Red is assuring, which is the next big open-world action game from Ubisoft Quebec.

Out of all the new Assassin’s Creed games we’ve heard about, like Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Assassin’s Creed Infinity, this one has grabbed our interest the most.

The team that made AC Odyssey is creating a game set in Feudal Japan, and they’re calling it “the biggest hit of 2024.” Some people are saying that making Assassin’s Creed Red has gotten so big that it’s taken away time and money from other Ubisoft games.

They even say that they might have cancelled Immortals Fenyx Rising 2 because of it.  In this article, we can provide everything we currently know about Assassin’s Creed Red.

Assassin’s Creed Red: Ubisoft’s Next Top-Quality Game

The next big game in the Assassin’s Creed series by Ubisoft Quebec will be set in Japan. This comes after the popular game Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The developer, Marc-Alexis Cote, has worked on some of the best Assassin’s Creed games.

Cote said that Codename Red is going to be Ubisoft’s next top-quality game. He also hinted that it will shape the future of open-world RPG games in the Assassin’s Creed series.

Assassin’s Creed Red Trailer

The 30-second reveal trailer for Assassin’s Creed Red, which was shown at the Ubisoft Forward event in 2022, nonetheless managed to amaze us.

It looks like the game will appear to confirm the Animus’s return (and the story’s split between the past and present), the new backdrop of feudal Japan, and our first glimpse of the all-new assassin, who is wearing jet-black Assassin Order robes and carrying a one-handed sword and hidden blade.

But if the rumors are accurate, we might have an option between two playable characters: a samurai and a shinobi.

Assassin’s Creed Red Story and Setting

While the first trailer that showed off the game was really brief, Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will take place in ancient Japan. We don’t know much about what the place will look like, but as we get closer to that park we may learn more about this new adventure in Assassin’s Creed.

We’ve seen some of the locations in previous games, so we can expect more in feudal Japan. Ubisoft says Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will be “the future of our open world RPGs,” so we can expect more exploration and a more interactive world to make the next game truly exciting.

We don’t know the whole story yet, but a lot of people are excited about Codename Red in Japan. This could be one of the best Assassin’s Creed games ever, depending on how it feels when we play it.

Assassin’s Creed Red Development

Ubisoft Quebec is working on Assassin’s Creed Codename Red. The studio got its start making add-ons for Assassin’s Creed 3 and Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.

It impressed the powers that be enough that it became the first company outside of series creator Ubisoft Montreal to be in charge of a mainline instalment. After that, Ubisoft Quebec was in charge of making Assassin’s Creed Syndicate in 2015 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in 2018.

It’s not clear how long Assassin’s Creed Codename Red has been in development, but we do know that Jonathan Dumont will be back as creative director, which is the same job he had on AC Odyssey and Ubisoft Quebec’s Immortals Fenyx Rising, which came out in 2020.
